DOG from Half Life 2, holding a Companion Cube

Design by joabaldwin

Half Life 2 meets Portal. Gordon Freeman and Alyx Vance's best friend, DOG, contemplating the beauty of his new toy, a companion cube. What else could you possibly want? Oh, that's right, Half-Life 2 Episode 3 would be nice...

Gabe, are you listening?

This uses the original texture maps from the game, you can even see the Lambda Half Life logo on DOG's back.

It wasn't easy! I had to remap all the textures manually, and fix all the geometry to make it printable and thick enough to support the weight. I also made most large pieces hollow, but you won't notice that at all (except in the reduced price this provided).
cm: 7.46 w x 8.4 d x 7.58 h
in: 2.937 w x 3.307 d x 2.984 h

Hey Rhinox. That sucks! First time I've had someone with that problem. I did reinforce it a lot, went through several models and thickened the hell out of it on the connective areas. Please reply to your order email and see if they can do anything about it, or feel free to send me a personal message by using the "contact designer" button on top and we'll see what can be done.

Mine just arrived. Unfortunately it also arrived broken into three pieces. More specifically, the left forearm was broken, as well as the connection between the two "spine" pieces. It looks like the left arm might require some reinforcement such as a diagonal strut piece in his arm. It would look a little less accurate to the game model but it would also reduce chances of people getting broken Dog statues. Not entirely sure what can be done about the spine. The design itself of course looks awesome. Hopefully Shapeways is able to refund or reprint so i can try ordering one again soon.

It's still impressive. I ordered one a couple of days ago. When it arrives, i'm putting it right next to my PC's monitor so i can stare at it in awe while playing Half-Life 2.

Thanks Rhinox, but I do go through plenty of errors and prototypes that aren't good enough to be made public. I uploaded this one plenty of times until I got it right.

You are a shapeways god. Shapeways is giving me trouble with even the simplest of things, meanwhile you upload masterpieces like this.

Thanks! It has no moving parts, it's one solid statue.
