Hey @FreakyShape, thought you'd like to know that we're using your case for our raspi at Shapeways HQ :)

Hi MikeM00n, Regarding the material (flexibility and apsect), in principle the plastic is flexible and strong. But if you have any problem with the material you need to contact Shapeways. For the labels that indicate "OK, PWR, FDX, LNK, 10M" I delete it because it's to small for 3D printing (show the first picture, this not very clean, that's the reason I delete the labels). You can see the real version on the 3D windows where you can rotate the case (blue windows with 3D rotation). For the shipping delay I'm not responsible, Shapeways print and send products. I just design the case and share it. The price is calculated by Shapeways by reference to material volume.

This raspberry pi case (at least in the Black Strong & Flexible) is not as advertised as far as details. 1st - expect it to be a rather textured finish (rough). 2nd - there are no labels on the top part of the case next to the "LED" lights that indicate "OK, PWR, FDX, LNK, 10M" like the ones shown in the pictures. 3rd - This case does not feel as flexible or strong as the designer shows that his case is in the video. 4th - I ordered my case on Sept. 7, 2012 and received it yesterday Oct. 2, 2012, so don't expect quick shipping. Overall, this is a decent case as is does provide decently stylish protection for your Raspberri Pi. However, it is in NO way worth the $42 + shipping.

Unfortunately this is not possible because the LED light guide must be printed with a transparent plastic. So if you wan't a white, black or an other color for the case I can't add the LED light guide to this model. It must be two separate items.

Hello, If I can give you advice for the Raspberry V2's box, you'd better include the LED light guide, it avoid to pay two shipping, for absent-minded like me.

On this photos, the material is white strong & flexible polished. The surface is near completely smooth and really better than without polished finition. You can compare with this pictures of my standard case ( http://www.shapeways.com/model/565087/be11d831158b0adad5474aae4d4f5ead ). The material for this standard case is without polished finition.

What does "polished" mean for the white case? is it in one of the pictures, because I see one that is kinda textured, but the others are kinda hard to tell detail wise. This case looks great by the way, totally going to get one before my Pi comes.

here a video to show the flexibility of the white strong & flexible material with my case : http://youtu.be/YGTcCB_ijsU

I'm very surprise about what you said. The white strong polymer is a flexible material. The frosted material is less flexible but not brittle. Of course this is possible to break them like for all others materials. But to break the lightguides just by touching this is not normal. Whether the lightguide had a defect or you forced too much on it. I printed my first case more than 2 months now and it's still alive. I test all my cases before to sell it, and I never observe this kind of problem. You are the first to talk about that. Maybe you had a 3D printing problem with your case and you need to contact Shapeways.

I bought this case (white strong) together with the LED lightguides. To be honest: I am REALLY disappointed. In my humble opinion the sides are way too thin. And the Raspberry PCB does not really sit tight in there. The guide pins (4) barely provide room to let the PCB "sit" on it. I expected the PI to snap into it so that it sits tight. Instead the PCB moves by a few millimeters when I plug in a HDMI or USB connector. The ventilation-exhaust can easily be broken out (too thin). The lightguides were touched by my brother at the outer end when I proudly showed him my new toy . He broke one "led" by simply touching it. (We both have +20 years computer experience so we know how to handle stuff.) It's not stable at all. I am pretty sure that this case (white strong) would not survive longer than two days in my bag where I keep my notebook, cables, screwdrivers, etc. -- Sorry for this harsh comment. Please make everything more stable (thicker) and I am sure your customers will have a better experience.

On my drawing I measured 22.3mm at mininum between the bottom of the SD card reader to the minimum top (interior) of my case (because there is a slope on the top). So this expansion board will fit with this case. But I can't garantee at 100% that it will work because I can't measure (my self) accurately your expansion board.
June 14, 2012, 7:05 pm
As far as I can tell, it's exactly the same height, maybe a fraction of a mm lower.
June 14, 2012, 3:42 pm
Does this expansion board is higher than the usb port?
June 14, 2012, 2:59 pm
Nice bit of design. Can you tell me if this expansion board will fit inside the case? http://www.flickr.com/x/t/0099009/photos/40259810@N00/7186590921/ I measured 20.7 mm from the base of the SD card slot to the top of the tallest package on the expansion board, though it can be pushed down by about another 1 mm if necessary.

I just noticed that someone ordered this case on the 16th May. I don't understand how it was possible. This case is only available since the 27th May. I made many modifications on this case since the 16th. So, this person will have maybe some problems with his case. This person can contact me in PV please. For all others people who ordered this case there are no problem of course! I just noticed that people prefer the black version!

Nice case at a relatively reasonable price for shapeways. MarcoA - competition encourages innovation - if you think this design's copying your design then design one better, make people want your case over this one. Personally I like the look of this case - it's the best one available on shapeways and the best one I've been able to find that I can actually buy.
May 27, 2012, 7:26 pm
I think that there's nothing normal in copying.
May 25, 2012, 7:41 pm
Thank you Marco! I find yours also really great and I like the design! But I think this is difficult to do something different to the others cases because of the Pi board shapes and dimensions. There isn't a lot of choice in the design and finally I think there is a lot of similarities between our cases. But I think this is normal.

Really original!
