Got mine today and it's amazing. I'll upload photos as soon as my camera batteries are ready

@BalrogHuzzah Thanks! I have printed tests in plastics, and they sadly don't meet with my quality standards for these products. That isn't to say that the folks at Shapeways didn't do a great job with the print, but the material doesn't show the detail well at all and since they're hollow, they feel disappointingly insubstantial. I highly recommend the metals for this model. If you are looking for a more budget-friendly option, I recommend the standard sized version of this same model available here: https://www.shapeways.com/model/124376/steampunk-d20.html . The details show up particularly nicely in the matte bronze steel materials.

It's beautiful, but I am on a budget. Could it be offered in plasics?

Just got mine recently and I love it! The polished gold steel looks great!

@MBase You might like mine... It is spindown which is also Steampunk themed. I have tried to reach out to this designer on his to no avail, so I had my own made :-)

This is gorgeous. Would it be possible to get one of these in spindown numbering?

@daijizai I ordered the Polished Gold! ^_^ and I am so very pleased with it!

@Torn2piecez Looks awesome! Thinking about pulling the trigger on one also. Is that matte gold steel, or polished?

It was way bigger than I was expecting it to be and I absolutely love it!!!! Totally worth the investment!!!

Got one of these and it looks really good. Some of the finer details are missing like the cogs on the gears mesh together and the really small dots don't show up but it looks really good.

w0ah....EXCELLENT work ;-) i was chatting w/ 3d blender artist about some dice he'd made, GREAT to see D&D dice actually built via printing--especially in steam punk style.

Is it possible to print them with transparent frosted detail?
February 21, 2012, 7:50 pm
Sadly no... the way that the faces are connected on an icosahedron connect make it impossible for the gears to turn.
April 16, 2011, 7:20 pm
Do the gears around the numbers actually turn, like they look like the should?

I finally got the "final" version of this put up for sale. The test print is back in steel, and it looks and rolls great. If you're interested, follow the link below, or go to my designs and click on Steampunk D20. http://www.shapeways.com/model/124376/steampunk_d20.html

Looking forward to it!

Thanks! My hope is to get a whole polyhedral set done. It would be expensive to print, but still pretty cool. Stay tuned...

This one is definitely on my wishlist. Been working on a few dice designs of my own, but your artwork is far beyond mine.

Sorry about the delay on posting the pic... I don't get along with physical cameras, as you can probably tell :) The other reason that I have been so loathe to post a pic is that I don't consider this model done... I made a steel print that was about 2/3 the diameter of this here, and I must say it's pretty awesome, but I'm still working on getting the numbers legible at that size. Please bear with me here... I really want to get something done while they're still offering gold plating, so it shouldn't be long.

Post a picture of the printed model!

So far I have only gotten a WSF print of this done, but after cleaning it looks great.
