It arrived in WSF, and it works for real :-)
Gear system based on hypotrochoid shapes.
It is printed as a 9 piece puzzle, a VERY frustrating one at that ;-)

Depending on the print batch, it might need some minor sanding to make it run properly.

Steel available on request, still untested by me.
I think steel will work but probably needs some more sanding to make it fit.
With the new pricing scheme, the steel version is no longer available.
If you want one in steel, please send me a message and we will find a way.

That's funny to see that the animation send by Gibell of Andreas Roever's website was initially inspired by Oscar van Deventer, a well known Shapeways' community member :-) (see details here: http://www.andreas-roever.de/puzzles.html)

As far as I know there is no practical mechanical application ;-) And thank you for the link, hadn't seen that one, and I was already wondering if something like that would be possible :-) Cool !
