This is a replacement frame for the HO scale MDC 26 foot "Old Time" tank car kit. It is based mainly on a drawing in the 1906 Car Builder's Dictionary. This is not for the beginner modeler. It requires tools and some skill. Email me for suggested instructions.

Very neat underframe. I had not realized how nice the brake piping would look. My part came warped. Hot water allowed me to correct that, but I went too far and broke it - easily repaired with ACC. I would have been smarter to heat it up and then tape it to the tank to take the right shape. It cleaned up nicely with Simple Green. It apparently fits the MDC tank perfectly but is about 3 feet too short for the nicer Precision Scale tank (from their narrow frame HON3 tank car). The is a reasonable amount of "texture" to the part. I'm not sure how that will look painted up, but was thinking of trying "Mr. Surfacer" to smooth it out a bit. Design for couplers appears to want fixed couplers with trimmed shanks. Probably OK for such a short car and it is probably difficult to engineer a Kadee #78 box into the frame (although that would be cool).
