@mdhensley The price is mostly due to Shapeways costs. Unfortunately I have not the power to make it cost $15.

@MarcoA I Would have bought 20 of these cases, but then I saw the price! Less then 5 bucks in plastic??? Too bad for you. Please feel to contact me if and when you drop the price down to $15. It's too bad because your case looks really nice.

You said this is the case one everyone is talking about but what they say is that this is the worst and the more expensive... Most of them say don´t buuy it, please.. so What are you talking about, dear???
September 15, 2012, 9:31 am
I have 3 raspberry pi computers and each has a different case. This is by far the most expensive case I have purchased and it is by far the worst quality. Finish is cheap and tacky, pi board is squeezed, to within an inch of its life and the case doesn't snap together properly. I will never buy anything from this side again. If u value quality then do not buy this item. The total rip off.
September 14, 2012, 4:16 pm
This is NOT the quality I was expecting...the plastic is about as cheap as it can get and is rubbing off with little to no pressure. Thanks for ripping me off.
August 21, 2012, 6:46 pm
Cools because I actually like the frosted bumpy look to the red case. thanks for the reply.
July 23, 2012, 6:09 pm
Hi JamieR, thank you for your appreciation! The red case in the photos is my own real case (Red Strong and Flexible), while the white in the remaining images is a rendering I put there befora having my real case available to photograph. As I wrote many times, the price is almost completely depending on the material and the production process (see here for the material prices :http://www.shapeways.com/materials). I really would like it to be sold somewhere at 10$, but unfortunately it's not possible at the moment.
July 23, 2012, 12:43 pm
Red Strong and Flexible at 46.46, is that the one in the picture with the plastic that has a bumpiness to it? I thinking of getting one of your cases for some time I'm just a bit unsure because of the price. Your cases are by far the best it seems so I'm not saying the price is unfair, just so you know.
July 23, 2012, 11:56 am
So, can I get this straight: A plastic moulded case costing maybe pennies to manufacture costs more than the the computer it was designed for containing dozens of components such as audio, video, networking ports and chips, not to mention the cpu?
July 16, 2012, 8:17 pm
I bought it here (shapeways.com), but it was under the name "Raspberry Pi Classical case" - sold by RPIcase shop I think... Was $20.43 plus $6.50 shipping... It looks to be the exact case you're selling, but it's no longer listed.
June 26, 2012, 11:14 am
Hi GarciaM44, where did you buy the case?
June 23, 2012, 7:20 am
I bought the case under the name "Raspberry Pi classical case" - I believe it's the exact same design being sold here. The case I received is absolutely perfect (Raspberry Pi Rev B - with the dual USB and LAN port) - the board fits snug and all the connectors align perfectly. Snaps together well and feels decently sturdy. http://www.flickr.com/photos/77695104@N06/7422486736 http://www.flickr.com/photos/77695104@N06/7422403562
June 22, 2012, 11:06 pm
charly38, I'm sorry for your issue. Can you show a photo of the case and the connector, please?
June 9, 2012, 12:11 pm
I've just received your case! My Pi board fit "correctly" inside it. However I can't plug my RCA cable (gold connector) with your case. There isn't enough space. The diameter hole is to small. 1 or 2 mm more will be better. So I can't use it because I use my Pi like a sound board!!!
June 8, 2012, 4:40 pm
The jack socket on my Pi seems to be correctly positionned on the board. But I think between a lot of Pi boards there are some dimensional deviations. That's normal! For me the jack socket hole on the Marco Pi case don't have enough space to take in account these deviations. 0.5 or 0.75 mm more on each side of the jack socket hole are necessary.
June 6, 2012, 10:32 am
Thank you, dreddric, for your confirmation. Here is another sample of the case that looks to fit well: http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=2598&p=92935#p92935
June 6, 2012, 10:17 am
Michael666, I have purchase one of Marco's Pi cases, I have two Pi boards and both boards fit the case perfectly. It is possible, that the jack socket on your Pi board has been incorrectly positioned? Do you know anyone else with a Pi board, to compare the positions of the sockets?
June 6, 2012, 10:09 am
Michael666, can I see some more images of the case?
June 5, 2012, 8:29 pm
Are you taking me for an idiot? My Pi board can't enter in your case! Because of a bad conception! This is not because of your clips system but because of the jack hole position on your case. The gap is too small! When I try to push the Pi board, the walls bend because it can't pass. Do you see my photo link?! This is a design error!! DON'T BUY THIS CASE! BE CAREFUL!!!!!
June 5, 2012, 8:22 pm
Michael666, you can see from the photos I added here (see also http://marcoalici.wordpress.com/#jp-carousel-862) that the dimensions looks correct in the case I have. When inserting the board be sure to start from the other side (where the HDMI connector is). The PCB edge have to be positioned between the two ribs downstairs and the four little hooks upstairs. Then you can fit the other side, gently pressing on the video RCA connector until the PCB snap-fits the two hooks near the yellow connector.
June 5, 2012, 7:53 pm
Jack connector doesn't fit at all : http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/198/marcoaliciraspberrypica.jpg/ .
June 5, 2012, 4:41 pm
Hi Michael666, I have my case here, and my Raspberry Pi fits really well into it (I will add real photos and a video to the renderings ASAP), Moreover, I left a little clearance in the long direction, so that there should be a comfortable accomodation for it. Can you show photos of your case and your board, please?
June 5, 2012, 10:04 am
I received your case but there is a problem. My Pi doesn’t fit to your case!!! The jack connector is shifted on the left!! The hole doesn't correspond about 1-1.5mm. My Pi board can't enter in your case!! I'm very disappointed! This case is too much expensive and doesn't work!! Be careful and don't buy this case!!
June 5, 2012, 9:49 am
Nice case, wish the 3d printed stuff looked as smooth as your initial pics though.
June 1, 2012, 6:48 pm
My case arrived in the morning. Here some quick shot made by phone: http://is.gd/c5uF9y
June 1, 2012, 2:16 pm
I'm pleased to know that you liked it. Mine should be here within a couple of days. Please, let me know where you'll publish photos.
June 1, 2012, 5:15 am
I just received mine in the mail today, you did an amazing job. I can't wait to put my PI in it, it should be here later today. Very much worth it, the white looks nice and clean, I might order a black one too for my second PI. Very impressive design though, I really like how the pieces snap together, top drawer. Will upload some photos to show you guys once the PI gets here.
May 31, 2012, 3:27 pm
I love the design but it's too expensive for me. Would pick one up in a heartbeat if they were mass produced at a lower price though.
May 29, 2012, 7:35 pm
Marco: i just like clean stuff :) - also i might buy a bunch in the future for a project i'm working on - so the plan woule be to place a project sticker where the logo is :)
May 19, 2012, 7:36 pm
May 18, 2012, 7:47 pm
Rococo105, you've never uploaded a model for printing, I suppose. Do your search: http://www.shapeways.com/search?q=raspberry+pi&sort=price The cheaper ones have wide apertures on bottom or on sides, that's the only way to lower the price, but... Can you still call them "cases"? Feel free to make your own, then.
May 18, 2012, 7:45 pm
jobbe, at present I didn't release different version, but as soon as I will have my sample to verify it's all right, I think I will do a neutral versio (but I wonder why don't you want a Raspberry Pi logo onto a Raspberry Pi computer...).
May 18, 2012, 7:38 pm
Neat littl' box you got there. Would it be possible to get one of those produced, without the Raspberry Pi logo on top ? - But with a flat surface instead?
May 18, 2012, 7:22 pm
Too expensive!! For this price, we are expected to have an amazing case with cool shapes! This is a basic case with a high price! You apply too much Royalties on it!!
May 16, 2012, 9:51 pm
Marco, il case è bello ma a che prezzo, quasi 29 euro, costa quanto il raspberry! Così onestamente non mi va di comprarlo, dovrebbe costare almeno 10 euro di meno... Marco, the case is nice but the price, about 29 euros, it costs as the raspberry! So I honestly do not buy it, it should cost at least 10 euros less ...
May 16, 2012, 9:30 am
Great design! Have you printed this case because I've only seen pictures of your previous version (which was not completely suitable for the Pi board). I like your case but it is too expensive for me!
May 15, 2012, 7:01 pm
Great to see it is finally for sale, would love to see some photos
May 15, 2012, 6:05 pm
Hi Marco, love your case, its beautifully designed. Can you give us an update on how testing is going and a rough idea of when you think it will be released? Cheers, Ric.
May 14, 2012, 8:31 am
Hi everyone, and hi Marco! Is there estimated release date for your case? It really looks great, the best I ever seen! I would like to get one of those. Thanks!
May 7, 2012, 7:30 pm
Good morning everyone, This box is fantastic, has a very small volume, that is a great work. However, if there was a model cube-shaped in black lacquer and also transparent would be fantastic. Who want to add more hardware, have space to do so. best regards, John.
March 27, 2012, 10:47 am
This looks really slick! What software did you use to create the model? I've never done any 3D and I'm curious know what you used for this design.
March 22, 2012, 9:59 pm
The price I indicated has to be considered Sales tax/VAT not included, as usual in Shapeways pricelistis.
March 9, 2012, 2:55 pm
The whole kit (the case and the LED lightguides) should be less than 40 €
March 8, 2012, 6:06 pm
any estimate on how much it will cost when released?
March 8, 2012, 4:46 pm
Nice deisgn. By far the best on this site. I am planning to model one also. Just need to firm up on the dimensions of the board.
March 7, 2012, 3:55 pm
I will definitely be buying one of these smart little cases just as soon as they are available for purchase!
March 6, 2012, 1:52 pm
Thanks for letting me know, mine won't get here until May 20th because I wasn't able to get in on the first shipment either. I'll follow you on your blog. Thanks for your quick response.
March 5, 2012, 9:28 pm
de_an777, Unfortunately I couldn't buy on the first batch, but I have ordered one board on Farnell site. You can follow me on my blog (http://marcoalici.wordpress.com) or on twitter (https://twitter.com/MarcoAlici).

Is there a way to be notified as soon as this case is available to purchase? I would like to buy one right away as soon as they are available. Do you know when you will be receiving a board to test it out in?
March 5, 2012, 9:14 pm
It's in testing stage. It will be unlocked for printing as soon as I can mount a real board into it.
March 5, 2012, 10:45 am
Why not for sale?
