This is for making impressions on sealing wax in the form of the Star of David, most commonly associated with the Jewish faith. Because of the symmetry , it both looks good on your hand AND makes a good impression on the wax.
This would be perfect for sealing invitations to a Jewish wedding or Bar/Bat Mitzvah, to mark the holy days, or to show your pride on all your mail. The impression will be about 3/4" diameter.
Caution: remove signet rings from your hand before using to make an impression. The ring will get hot. Please be careful to avoid burns when using fire or hot wax.
In some rare instances, Shapeways stainless steel rings have caused a reaction called "tea staining." This is a (not permanent) brown mark on the skin caused by a chemical reaction with the bronze binder. So far only one customer has reported this, and research shows that it depends on skin chemistry - some people always get it, most people never do. Some solutions for people concerned with this are coating the skin contact area with clear nail polish, gold plating, or getting the ring made in silver.
