This was the first full production U-Boat for the Germans. The prototype for the class was the Finnish submarine, Vesikko. The Type II U-Boat was a coastal submarine that saw a lot of use early in the war, but served more in a training role as newer, longer ranged U-boats became available. They also played an important role in fighting the Russians in the Black Sea. (Note: You may need a razor or knife to carefully remove the sprue from the models)
