it is indeed a nice idea and it looks great, but i don't think that the iphone itself has all the buttons it could in order to magnify the sound in an even better way, so in order for the sound to be even louder and better you could add a BASS button. Or another good idea would be to add an usb space to the gramophone so that it could be used by persons who own other gadgets than iphone.

Erikschorr, That might be true. We'll look into it.

Schreerdesign: I don't think leakage through the bottom hole would be noticeable if the clearance between the bottom of the phone and the bottom of the "holster" slot in the base of this design is tight enough. If people have an issue with it, I suppose they could use a cotton ball to fill in the space around the cable after it's passed through the base. Just an idea.

erikschorr, We've ordered a couple for ourselves, and we like the sound OK. Remember we're just amplifiying the tiny speaker on the bottom of the phone, so there are limitations. Still, surprisingly loud and enjoyable. As for the USB charger hole, it does not have it right now. We were worried about sound 'leakage.' We'll have to try it on one of our samples.

Has anyone purchased and used this and has anything to say about the quality of the sound it reproduces? I understand the purpose of the horn and its shape, but was wondering if it "colors" the sound much. Also, for Schreerdesign: Do you have plans to integrate a hole through the base to run the usb/charger cable and connector? I can't tell if it has this already.

Thenogrey, nobody else is complaining about this issue. It's now September. Where is the torrent of complaints we should expect from our customers who bought this product, and should now all be disgruntled that their cases do not fit?

Can I download this file? I have access to a 3D printer and only need the file. This is awesome and I'd love to print it.

I ordered this product in Jun 2012 and just received it today and surprisingly found out I was midled by the false product description back in June 2012. I thought I was buying a whole set of product but it turned out I only received ONE of the two parts of this gramophone which already cost me more than $45. I feel I was cheated by the false and misleading product description, just like what happened in Thenogrey's comment below. In addition, the base of this product has mulfunction as the hole doesn't really go through end to end so does the sound. Therefore, I am trying to return it now and want to leave my comment here to inform future buyers the potential trouble you might get after you order it...

Wow, someone got smart and added details not featured when I made the mistake of purchasing from a misleading page. Now that you have clarification in tiny print at the bottom, the fact that the order page still shows a photo of a complete not separated product when you are only really purchasing the base remains misleading Funny how my refund is in process and I have learned from Shapeways that they received other complaints about your original misleading page. The worlds "Two parts" NEVER conveyed that one had to make two separate purchases of a total of over $100 to buy a flimsly product that didn't fit a phone which had no cover on it. Having the skills to produce such items isn't enough to be a successful business person.

To answer your one (tiny) valid point, we changed the title from 'Two Parts' to 'Part 1 of 2.' Still not sure why clear descriptions ARE NOT READ. The description is that little type below the photo.

Does not fit your iPhone... bet you have an iphone cover. Take that part off.

Yeah, except for this part right here from the description (right above!): "NOTE: BASE AND HORN ARE NOW SOLD SEPARATELY FOR TECHNICAL REASON. THIS FILE IS THE BASE ONLY. SEE THIS LINK FOR THE HORN: http://shpws.me/5i0B ." Words fail.

False and misleading. The main page reads "two parts" but FAILS to say you need to purchase both parts separtely for a total of $100. Really? As What I thought was $50 for both parts, based on the false data used promoting the product, even $50 was a stretch. Having received only the base I also discover that it DOES NOT fit my I-phone. So here I'm stuck with a base, not speaker section and I can't even fit my phone in it. I'd be better off enter the Nigerian Lottery for the rip off I experienced here!
