Sentinel 1mm

Sentinel 1mm 3d printed Download
I tried a 1 mm/block version of Sentinel Castle, chopping off the western tower and turning off trees, as the walkway there looks too thin to print safely. Shapeways may decide to not try printing this one, but I thought it would be interesting to see. It's certainly much cheaper! Update: sadly, Shapeways no longer will print this model, they've decided it's too risky to make and clean. I understand, as the sandstone material is pretty brittle and the cleaning process is laborious. So, it's off the market for the full color - if you order it, you're getting plastic. Someday we'll have a full color plastic printer and I'll offer it again...

@Rohans_Science_group Sorry, I don't do "real" modeling, can't help you there. Best of luck!

@ erich666 maybe you could help me with a science project It is a jar and bottle opener for the elderly and dimensions need to stay fixed and weight is at a premium I have drawn it in cad however as you will soon see I am a "noob/newbie" to cad and it is a bit pricey do you have any tips as too reducing the volume https://www.shapeways.com/model/1708068/prototpe-2-for-shapeways.html?li=search-results&materialId=90

doubling the side length ends up making it 8 times the volume, so 8 times the price. I think shipways should edit its pricing model I wonder could you make it slightly bigger to print in the minimum bounding box for sandstone

@Rohans_Science_group Thanks for your notes, apology accepted, I'm glad you're a reasonable person. A friend made this in survival, no cheats, but monsters off. There's a (pricey, even with hollowing of the bottom) 2 mm block version here, that he bought: https://www.shapeways.com/model/415953/sentinel-castle.html?li=my-models&materialId=26 - it was not an idea export, I could have sealed off some rooms to allow more hollowing to occur.

sry for the disturbance but I was just wondering if you built this in survival

@erich666 also nice building on the "minecraft side" your are most certainly not a noob in minecraft. Is your base still hollow. Also it would be pretty cool to have it in silver even though it is highly cost prohibitive. Please understand I meant no personal offense.

@erich666 sorry I meant nothing personal and also the physical building portion of it is quite impressive, also you might want to consider going to 2 maybe even 3mm por block as it might allow you to print within the bounding box of sandstone

@Rohans_Science_group Thanks for notifying me. As you can see from the picture, the model's printable in sandstone. However, Shapeways evidently recently decided that the model is too delicate to clean - the final cleaning process involves them using high-pressure air to blow off the unsolidified gypsum powder, which can break elements. They switched the material to metal, which is a pretty goofy thing to switch to. I've manually changed the default material to white plastic and warned users of this problem. On a personal note, saying "noob" is insulting. You might consider being nicer, I believe it would serve you better throughout your life. Sincerely, Eric
