BFG Heresy Marine Cruiser

by GrimDarkBits
An ancient and powerful vessel of lost design, this strike cruiser is equally at home as a relic in a loyalist fleet, or the mainstay of a traitor force. Carrying a deadly cargo of marines, ready to board enemy ships or conduct a surgical strike at the heart of an enemy army, this millenia-old Pre-Heresy Strike Cruiser still punches well above its weight.

One ship, comes unpainted and without flight stand. Frosted Detail or Frosted Ultra Detail are recommended for best quality. Model has a 3/16" hole for a standard flight stand.

This model is not affiliated with Games Workshop in any way.

This is a popular model, and for good reason. My copy arrived a few days ago and it's amazing. It's definitely worth paying for the Frosted Ultra Detail. The macrocannons and moulding on the prow look even sharper than the painted picture above. Something other comments haven't mentioned is that the model prints hollow, and has a few open spaces along the keel. The holes are invisible from the top, but they're easy to fill in with plasticard if you'd prefer the model to be presentable from all angles.

If at all possible I'd like to see side by side comparisons of the different printed material.

Excellent mini. The level of detail is superb-- it rewards a steady hand painting it. This is my first FUD mini and I'm happy to report that durability is excellent-- very much in line with polystyrene minis for tabletop use. I'd be loathe to buy this in anything but FUD.

An excellent model, really nice design. I got one a couple of weeks ago in Frosted Ultra Detail, and the detail is great.

@GrimDarkBits Ahh ok. Thanks. I'm still very much new to this Shapeways thing!

@admiraltee Shapeways was periodically rejecting the model for printing in White Detail. Frosted Detail actually looks better and for about the same price.

Hi - It doesn't look like White Detail is an option anymore for this model. Referring to the below comments it sounds like WD is a better option.

Woah @GrimDarkBits -- that's an awesome model!

@ilaninglis The printed example is in White Detail; it's perfectly strong for this design. Although White, Strong, and Flexible is a little stronger, it also has a rougher texture and detail is lost. You can still make a good looking model if you're willing to hand paint detail back onto it, so I left the option open since it's cheaper. But I recommend White Detail for a good print.

P.S. any chance of a Battle-barge equivalent?

what would you recommend as medium; WD or WST? is there a significant difference in details and strength? what medium did the ones in the photo used?
