Now with bolster pins included. Just the thing for CGNscale's ventilated boxcar kit. 4 pairs of N scale swing motion, wooden bolster, archbar freight trucks of the Allen or 'California' pattern. This type was popular from the mid 1860s through the 1880s, especially on Western US railroads, but also seen in a photograph of an Adams Express car at Nashville circa 1864. Modeled after those under the Virginia & Truckee ventilated boxcar at the Nevada State Railroad Museum, probably of Central Pacific origin. Outside brakes on both trucks hung from the car's underfloor on the prototype. 4 of 8 trucks have stars on the journal covers like the prototype.

66" wheelbase.

This version mounts with a common MT/MDC type bolster pin or use those included.

Requires 33" low profile or new standard profile wheelsets (MicroTrains or Fox Valley Models with .540" length axles). Others may also fit.

Because of their small size and fine detail, Frosted Ultra Detail is the preferred material. , a cheap ultrasonic cleaner works great. Clean with soapy water or alcohol before painting. Use toothbrush soaked in Bestine rubber cement remover if particularly greasy. Enamels or acrylics recommended. Note this is a rather fragile model, so use care when handling.
