Product Description
Edit: Due to possible copywrite infringements, this model is not for sale.

Bob Pott's kinetic sculpture "Avian Pursuit" is the inspiration for this piece. I have been working with machines for over 30 years and have never seen anything quite like it. I simply had to figure out how he did it and the result is this reverse engineered model. The more i understood its function, the more i appreciated the simple genius of the design. This piece is intended as a working model, straight from the printing process (no assembly required). Clearances between all moving parts is 0.005" (0.127mm) or better and it is designed specifically for the tightest tolerances of the Frosted and Frosted Ultra Detail processes. Most of the parts have been hollowed, to save material, but my primary concern is for structural integrity. The wall thickness of the arms, for example, is a relatively beefy 0.062" (1.6mm). The STL file has been run through Netfabb and is a "valid mesh". Add a drive unit and some wing feathers to finish. Some type of silicon lubricant is recommended.
