The 15k is roughly needed for a mold since this design can probably only mass produced with an injection molding process. Maybe I can redesign the product so it is suitable for a punch- or laser process.

$15K where did you get that number. Is that realistic? Did you price it somewhere? I'll put up the money if you want to go into biz.

Thanks for your comment. Well if I had 15k on my bank account, I would mass produce this idea. But I'm not a patent believer anymore. For most patents it cost you more then it saves. In most cases a short time to market will give you a large piece of the pie and at the time the copycats are producing copies, you announce your new product or a better version of it. We desperately need a new patent system.

I hope you already made a patent application for this genious idea. Please do not let someone else make lots of money with this. I´m a photographer too, and I hate losing my lens caps or searching for them - as well as I hate the cap dangeling around on one of those silly lens cap holders with a strap. Go for a patent application, I´m sure it is worth it!
