MOD High Version03

The Nene Valley Railway has a couple of khaki and yellow liveried ex MOD highs, and on request from a fellow enthusiast I made this model based on a couple of photographs and the general dimensions from the familiar Peco 5-plank kit. There are no coupler pocket lugs formed onto the base, so if you use the Peco 10' wheelbase steel solebar chassis kit as intended, use the lugs from the kit and get the couplings sitting nice and level before adding the body. Align the body squarely and centrally on the chassis while whatever glue you use is still soft. I suggest a minimal amount of solvent for the pocket lugs, and when that's dry and firm, a thin layer of evo stick for the body. I believe this gives a better result than using pocket lugs formed on the floors of kits that do have them, even those on which the designer has managed to get them the right size and distance apart (which is rare, apart from Peco's own kits). The buffer beam infill has been made a little narrower as it required filing on Version02 to fit the gap it is meant to fill on the Peco 10ft wheelbase steel solebar chassis kit. It is also necessary to remove a little of the upper flange of the Peco chassis solebars to accept the projecting ends of the body side stanchions / door frame. These were made thicker on Version02 to make them stronger.
