I designed this bottle opener for a show, the concept of the show was to design the first thing you would put in a new space when moving in. Moving into a new space is a great opportunity to throw a party, so I designed a bottle opener to facilitate the experience of breaking in a new living space. The bottle opener needs to be screwed into the wall for a secure connection. Making the decision to install something into the wall is a critical part of putting your mark on a space, committing to it, and making it seem less temporary. I feel that you don’t really live anywhere until you can trust yourself enough to put a hole in the wall.
The opener will mount to walls using two #6 1.5in Flat-Head Phillips Drive Wood Screws, available at home depot for around $1, along with hollow wall anchors if necessary.
