Everyone is familiar with the old style of nerd glasses repair. White tape on the bridge of the nose.
But in the future I imagine that if you break such a thing the best thing to fix it might be to simply print out a new frame.
This is my vision of how home fabbing may be useful in the near future. These frames are based on measurements I made of a pair of sunglasses and have a groove where you might be able to slip in your existing lenses until you can arrange a more permanent solution.
Given the way Fab@home experiments have been going I imagine that the better solution may be to have the machine print to this point, then stop it, and place the lenses in the base, and have the machine resume printing the frames around them.

I'm not familiar with the usual cost of eyeglass frames, but at $12. these indicate that printed frames could potentially be cheaper than some that you buy at an optometrist of frame shop. And printed frames may someday be available in much greater variety, and you also have to option of designing your own.

I imagine the material would be rather rough on your nose, interesting idea though. I'm still working on thinking of a practical tool to model.

Ah the 60-150 is in USD, at least for several stores i have been to. That is unless you decide to buy from an online discounter which is not advisable due to the need for comfort, and each pair fits differently. For my glasses they have about a 4mm bow effect as it nears the inner edge(bridge/nose piece) in relation to the outside of the lens (near the arms/hinges). This of course can vary also, but it is also a simple fix, at least it is in 3dsmax.
Still a great idea here though.

As I know very little about how eyeglass frames need to work in the real world I have not taken that into account. This is more of a concept. But I would be happy to incorporate that and other details if they are explained to me. What do the numbers 60-150 refer to here?

Nice, have to tried to take into effect that the lense have curvatures? And for frames they usually run 60-150 for a decent pair. If this could be done well enough to work then you could have something going here.
