Launched in 1977 each of the Voyager probes carried a golden record with the sounds of Earth. The protective cover of that record was engraved with a map of 14 pulsars that could be used by an alien civilization to pinpoint the star the Voyager spacecrafts originated from.
Based on data from the ATNF Pulsar Catalogue this pendant visualizes those 14 pulsars. The pulsars range from 170 to 8500 parsecs, and were visualized using the logarithm of their distance and their position in the sky. The central axis (which holds the loop for the chain) points towards the galactic centre.
