#3 in a variety of 9 total “Empire Peaks” versions, this is one of three different mash-up characters now available here on Shapeways as my first 3D print series. The 3D print you’re purchasing is a small, roughly 4in/10cm tall, full-color version of my larger wood sculpture from 2013. This 3D print is available in full-color sandstone. In early 2013 I hand-carved a one-off 36” tall satirical statue of Gandhi mashed with the Jedi master in cedar wood. I engineered this original piece with moving body parts and hand-painted it with enamel. Later in 2013 I had this carving 3D-scanned by a local medical device engineering firm. Since Winter 2014 I’ve worked extremely hard to make this piece available here on Shapeways in various versions. This is an entirely original design I fabricated and produced from scratch, start to finish, from hand-carved block of wood to 3D print. The original sculpture was one in a large series I debuted at my “Empire Peaks” sculpture exhibit at Jonathan LeVine Gallery in 2013. As a long-time sculptor of many naturalistic, articulating, action figures, pop art figures and statues over the years, I’m incredibly excited to have this available today.
This character is titled “Wars Make Not One Eye Blind”. It’s a combination of quiet, modest leaders of a mass spiritual movements. These small, wise men's inspirations carried massive radical political ramifications. Big, heavy things reside in small, unsuspecting bodies. Their superpowers are more cerebral than material. Technological gadgetry is replaced by attunement to harmony and nature. A simple stick fallen from a tree is the only material object this small being needs to merely prop himself upright and maintain balance.
