Hex Shift was suggested by Bram Cohen. Whereas the gears of this puzzle were designed in 2011, the shift mechanism followed only in 2014. It is a gear-shifting puzzle in the same vein as
Gear Shift,
Skewb Shift and
Shift Happens. The puzzle can be pulled apart in four directions, three horizontal and one vertical. When shifted open, part of the gears can turn, while the others remain stationary. The object is to scramble the puzzle and then bring it back to its original shape and color pattern.
