1-87 Scale M-274 MULE A5 Squad Leader "Old"

This is a drive chassis of the U.S. military's M-274 A5 "MULE", as it has front steering only. This is the "Squad Leader Command" variant. These were introduced in 1956 as squad supply vehicles for combat zones. They are 4 wheel drive, and can carry 1,000 pounds of cargo, plus the driver. The early versions had all wheel steering. This is the later version with front steering only. 

These were used by the U.S. Army, the U.S.M.C. and the U.S.A.F.. The Air Force had these in operation up into the early 1980s in Germany. As they made great little cargo carriers on flight decks. The military also used these for many other jobs, like transporting the wounded to and from a helicopter flight deck or landing zone, and as a self drive mortar platform, or to carry M60 7.62 mm NATO light machine guns, M2HB .50 Caliber machine guns, 106 mm Recoilless Rifles, TOW anti-tank missile systems, and the M-134 'Vulcan' Mini Gun. 

This has the tires on it. It has tire pegs, so all you have to do is drill out the center of the tires and they will mount just fine. This is 1/87 HO scale. This is one of my older designs, before I knew how to do wheels right.
