Based on Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera (LROC) imagery, this sculpture has both the texture and colouring of the lunar surface twisted into the well known form of a Möbius strip. The accurately modelled craters twist endlessly around the möbius single surface.

A detailed interactive map of the moon can be found here.

Printed in Full Colour Sandstone, the model has a rough texture, almost as if it is made from the regolithic surface of Earth's satellite itself.

The lunar surface, in terms of scale height, has been greatly exaggerated to enhance the look and feel of the model.

@joabaldwin Thanks! I'm not seeing any colours in the grey. I'm guessing the printers are either applying black ink only, or well calibrated CMY to get the greyscale. If I have any criticism it would be that the tonal range in the model isn't as wide as the source texture - I could address this by deepening the blacks etc. but you know what? It turned out pretty neat as it is!

This is sweet! Do the grays look really gray or are there hints of other colors there? I'm just wondering how the 3d printer handles grayscale, if it uses just black ink, or if it's able to adequately mix colored inks to achieve good grays in both dark and light areas.
