Do you want to order more than 1 in a single color? Check out this set of 2, or this set of 4  to save some money

This eggcup is printed on demand in laser sintered polyamide. The eggcup can hold a medium egg and due to the flexible nature of the printing material, it will adapt its shape to larger eggs as well.

@Lion240 food safety is only an issue if it comes into contact directly with food. The items are dyed similarly to how clothes are dyed and are washable. However for keeping the colors vibrant I always advice people to wash by hand. I want to emphasize, in normal use the edible part of your egg will not come into contact with the eggcup.

@Gijs Yes, of course, but there are different types of plastic and maybe this or the color used to dye it are not suitable for food. But this kind of material if it gets dirty you can wash it? However, the touch is always porous. Regards.

@Lion240 no worries, as long as you don't eat your eggshell ;-) Nylon is food safe, the fact that it has no FDA approval means shapeways cannot guarantee food safety. Do you realize how much food we eat is packed in plastic?

Plastic is not food safe.

Ordered 8 in red & they are exquisite & functional. Hard or soft boiled eggs fit like a glove; they do not tip over & look amazing on the table. Could not be happier with this item. The design is perfection! Hope to see more colors: coral, turquoise, would be wonderful to have an affordable silver & gold metal color option. These are on my Christmas list as gifts for clients. Love 'em!

@therockandtheroll -- at Shapeways, we are doing a review of colors currently. Any request for colors you'd like to see?
January 10, 2012, 1:27 am
Is is possible to ask for custom colors? Also what are the available colors right now or in the near future?

Hi Cradders, the eggcups is more stable than it appears to be. You have to push it to let it fall over. In case that happens, the eggcup will still hold the egg, due to its flexibility and will protect your egg from rolling off the table. The material is very strong, you can safely drop it without damage.

As a piece aesthetic design this is wonderful, but as a functional design how does it stand up in terms of stability and strength?
March 3, 2011, 3:08 pm
The item not being available in white was an error, which is now corrected. Blue, red and green were winter colors and will be replaced by new colors shortly.

Kudos to the mind that visualized this. I don't even serve hard boiled eggs and still had to have I want more...must find someone worthy of them.
