16mm Scale Ffestiniog Axleboxes

This is a pack of Ffestiniog Railway slate wagon axleboxes at 16mm scale. You could run a 1/8" diameter axle in them just as they are, using a liberal amount of gloss varnish or similar to harden the bearing surfaces. I cannot guarantee how long they will last like that though! A better option would be to drill out the axlebox very slightly and insert a piece of thin-walled brass tube to use as a bearing for your choice of axle. I would also recommend lubricating the axles with a plastic-friendly oil, such as those sold for use with N gauge or H0/00 gauge locomotives. Finally, if you want to attach these axleboxes to a 3D-printed wagon, epoxy or a thick superglue is best. The 3D-printed plastic is slightly porous and non-viscous glues (e.g. ordinary superglue) will soak in without bonding the two parts together.
