New, stronger version! The tiny quadcopters are great fun, but when they crash the props come off too easily. We made this little cage to clip over the quadcopter arms and protect the props, plus make it easier to take off again. Contact us for 160mah battery version - increase flight time to 7:30 with protector. White versions look very cool in low light - the LEDs light up the rings. We suggest removing the black battery case to keep as light as possible. Works on Estes version - should work on the others as well. Weight 1.2g

@jvil00 The mod requires a new 160mah battery, and a mod to your ProtoX by removing the old connector & reworking to attach to the new battery. See pix. We're looking into a special connector to plug into the old connector - but its not there yet. Let us know if you want this or have us mod your Proto X.

@tomrust I'd like to know more about the battery mod

We just tested the mod of the Proto X to use a 160mah battery instead of the 100mah - flight times go from 4:30 to 8:30. The power connector needs to be remounted at a right angles to accommodate the bigger batteries. More power on fresh charge. Contact us for the mod.

New version with rails - stays on better, holds up to bumping without popping off. More fun in combat mode!

@arinx As I mentioned earlier, PM your address and I will send you a properly packed model. In order to keep the model very light, we use very thin "wires", but they are within the Shapeways guidelines. Unfortunately the packing technique Shapeways sometimes uses for these models can warp the parts.

And here is the response I finally received basically BS "I apologize it took so long to resolve this case. I have already sent several reminders until I got a reply today. The model is too thin and it’s not possible to produce it without having warped wires." No refund just a store credit

@arinx Sorry to her your model came squashed. We ordered a lot of these, and had a similar problem with several. You might first leave the part out, sitting on the base overnight. We found to some extent the parts have memory, and will slowly spring back to the original shape. If that doesnt work, give me a shout. I can send you some properly packed parts.

Well I received it, shape ways squashed it in the packaging process. They wrapped it in bubble wrap so tight thats it is now deformed :( Waiting on a response from them.

We've been having way too much fun doing indoor combat with these. Neat trick is throwing up into the air, then hit the throttle to hover power. They self right and hover.

@rmogstad Weight is 1.2g. It does require more power to lift, so you add more throttle. We're looking at some 160mah batteries to increase power and extend the flight time.

How does it affect the flight? How much does it weigh?
