1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate (ACC) synthase (isoenzyme 2) is a 45 kDa protein that catalyzes the rate-limiting step in ethylene biosynthesis. This is the ribbon model with the 11 key conserved residues and the pyridoxal-5'-phosphate cofactor also present. It was cloned by Athanasios Theologis and colleagues.
