Hey Maxsmoke, bit of a late reply, sorry. I'm not 100% sure but i think the egg is hollow and has a small hole in the bottom. But you only pay for the "solid" material. So if you make a hollow sphere without a hole in the bottom you would only pay for the "shell". You wouldn't have to pay for the powder that is stuck inside the sphere. But making a hole in the bottom does help shapeways to keep their printing prices low, since they don't have to buy as much of the powder :) Thanks for the compliments people :)

If you made a slightly smaller egg, hid it inside the model, and connected to the outside of the model with a tiny pipe, you could reduce the cost of the model by at least half. Oh, and the egg and tube need their faces inverted. Because of it's nice, symmetrical shape, you could reduce the cost of printing drastically.
