High detail N scale (1/160) EMD FL 9 LATE TYPE Locomotive (New Haven Class EDER-5). It was a dual-power electro-diesel locomotive, capable of diesel-electric operation and of operation as an electric locomotive powered from a third rail. Sixty units were built between October 1956 and November 1960 by General Motors Electro-Motive Division for the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad (the "New Haven"). The locomotive was lengthened to accommodate additional equipment, including a larger train heating steam boiler. Due to the additional weight of the added equipment, the locomotive was equipped with a three-axle rear truck. Lately, with Amtrak and Metro North was added fixtures to the nose for head end power and front multiple unit cables, as is depicted in this model.The model is made hollow to save material, and only to be mounted on a moving model.
