A mold for making tiny sugar skulls - perfect for a coffee or tea for the holidays. The sugar skull tradition comes from the Mexican Day of the Dead celebration. These make tiny skulls with about the amount of sugar as half a sugar cube. Fun, easy activity for the family.
This mold is for a single small sugar skull. Each skull is pressed into the mold one by one and tapped out onto saran wrap or butcher paper to harden. Making a batch of skulls takes about 15 minutes.
For best results, use the ratio:
1 cup sugar
1 tsp meringue powder
1 tsp water
