This shade can be clicked directly on to a fluorescent light tube. The variation in thickness makes for a nice translucent effect. Inspiration for this design came from phototaxis: the attraction to light that insects such as moths have. That, and the observation that the boring 'bare' light tube in my girlfriend's kitchen could use a touch of creativity.

This version is fit for T8-tubes (1" in diameter). More versions, including other butterflies will follow.

What a unique idea! This would be great for bare curtain rods, etc. too.
I love the idea, and I think the model is just beautiful.
I was wondering though, how thick are the wings for them to let light through. I am working on a model that I want to have a similar effect when lit from behind, so any advice would be useful.
wow Peter!.. They're stunning
Very nice idea.
With the price also to give as a present.
