[Note: This propeller propulsion add-on does not include a Gracilis 3D printed Strandbeest, which should be bought seperately! This propeller only fits the GRACILIS!]

The propeller addition is available as a separate kit, which can be mounted on the 3D printed Strandbeests. It can be mounted on the Gracilis Strandbeest body in a few simple steps.

can the propeller be removed without damage to it or the gracilis once it has been put on?

@TheoJansen Customer service immediately replaced the missing part and now it walks! It's wonderful to watch- my kids are fascinated by it. :) Looking forward to the next one to add to my collection!

@Honus Thanks, yep that's a part mixup, it's the axle for the smaller Beest. Let us know through a forum message if it's solved with support or if we can do anything else!

@TheoJansen Here's a pic of the axle. You can see how the shaft diameter near the gear is too big (the shaft is also too long.) The gear wouldn't engage properly even if it could be inserted into the support. I'm sure customer service will correct it. The Gracilis does walk very well- with the long legs it can cruise right along over surfaces that would cause the other Standbeest models to stumble.

@TheoJansen thank you, I appreciate that

@dinka we're sorry it broke, it should function and walk in the wind for now without the end-piece, but we'd like to know what went wrong, we'll contact you right away to fix this!

@Honus that sounds like a part mixup, let us know what SW support tells you, but it appears you got an axle from another Strandbeest type.

@dinka I sent a message to Shapeways customer support yesterday- I'll let you know as soon as I hear back.

@Honus that makes sense! I tried to assemble it and the shaft broke at the end because I was trying to squeeze the other part onto it. What do you do now? I wrote to @TheoJansen about it, but no reply :(( this was my Husband's birthday present and now it's broken :((((
December 8, 2013, 10:13 pm
@dinka I also recently received this and it appears the prop shaft included is the wrong piece- it's the wrong gear pitch and the end diameter near the gear is incorrect so it's clearly not the correct part. I also received an extra gear that is connected to a shaft.

@TheoJansen I Got to step 5, the end of the shaft broke when I was trying to secure the ending on it and the whole seems to be to small :((( how do I get a new one now...? It is still not clear to me how to move from step 5 to 6, I have another wheel remaining and a propeller...

@dinka, see the mounting instructions in the image

How do you mount the propeller...?! Just got my delivery, but can't figure out how to mount it... :((
