Shapeways materials sample kit

Now that Grey Robust is being retired, what will replace it in the sample kit?

Just got my sample kit (which came really quickly). It includes samples b, d, e, f, g, h, j, and k. I think "g" is probably my best choice but ... unless I've gone snow-blind here, the booklet doesn't identify "g"? I'm guessing that it's "h" - white detail - in black, but I'd like to be sure before I start printing! Thanks!

I finally was able to figure out how to make my models flat like the thickness of .11 and/or thinner.
The next question I have is when you viewing your models you just uploaded, you add the size you like for example #1 4.75 x #2 .04 (thickness) the shapeways Image Popper reflects much larger than I would want?

I received my sample kit, but no Materials Booklet. Can somebody please post the matchup of what materials correspond to which samples ? I have b and d through j. I can make some guesses, but I just want to be sure.

I see quite a few materials missing. I've recently ordered some dyed WSF, just to see how it looks and feels.

would be nice to have version2 with productes that aren't in version1.. still now i like the product..

The sample kit arrived very quickly for me, and was helpful in getting an idea of the capabilites of each material. Customer service was responsive, and my kit arrived in Washington state within 4 days of my payment going through. The samples aren't huge- but seeing everything in person made it worth it.

@ GilliesGifts you can use the coupon as many times till the maximum amount is reached, but we do have a minimum order price of 25.00 at Shapeways.

I did finally get my sample kit. I sent a polite email explaining my frustrations to the Shapeways support staff and they followed up by overnighting me a sample kit! Great response and customer service....BUT they didn't include the material guide OR my $25 coupon in the package! Thankfully my original order arrived (with my coupon) a week later (and 8 weeks after my original order) after I had given up.

Can I use the coupon for several different orders? The test designs I want to order are fairly small and I can buy several for the coupon value. I do not want to order several at once, in case it does not work out and I need to adjust the design.

5 weeks and I still haven't received my sample kit. I did however receive an e-mail saying that they down graded the shipping on the sample kits because it "saved time in processing" - therefore I have no tracking data to see when I'm going to receive it. Pretty bummed about the level of service on this one as it was my first experience with Shapeways. I'm glad they received $5MM in VC funding to help make the technology more accessible and cheaper...I just hope they spend a bit of that cash on customer service initiatives.

Greek 3d-er here. Always thought shapeways to be an awsome idea but didn't had the "push" to try it out. Saw about this on Blender art magazine and just had to order it at once! Can't wait till this baby arrives!!!

No glass samples?

My sample kit arrived today, and has caused great interest in our architecture office. The discount coupon also went straight in to my next order :)

Got it! First off, it's great. It's convenient and adorable and I love how the pieces move and fit together and spin. I have one teeny weeny idea... the ring through the alumide broke in half the second I touched it. Probably got squished in the mail. I think it needs to be a few tenths of a mm thicker. Even with the broken ring (which I don't need anyway) it was totally worth it. Do wish it had glass, too, because i've never seen it. guess i'll just have to try something in glass to check it out. I have to admit, though... my favorite part is that my ring is right there at the top of the pamphlet in gold!

I see that A and C (gold plated steel and glass) were left out. Are the models on the site somewhere so that I could order them separately?

We had to put a date with the coupon and figured after receiving your sample kit you would re-order within 24 hours :-)
Anyway if you are not going to order one of the great products we have for Xmas or any other time before the end of this year feel to contact us to work something out.

The coupen is only valid until December 31st 2010?!?

The kit is nice, really. But the first thing I noticed is that the coupon is only valid for 3 months! Frankly this is just wrong. Even if it would have been clearly stated at the product page, I would have considered it wrong. But I can't find it stated anywhere. Please tell me this is a mistake. I was promised a $25 coupon. Don't say you're going to take it away from me in 3 months!

No, serious, its nice, but it would be even better if glass was included and if probably the different finishes for stainless steel would be included. For that, I'd also accept a higher effective price(so 15$ instead of 10$ effecitve or so)...but anyway, it's great to have a sample without having to order a bigger piece to get to the 25$ minimum costs...big plus for that!

Will this be updated to include the silver?

finally the best product you could ever made for people to try out and feel confortable in design and order on a suitable material for them. A BIG PLUS!!! thanks!!

I think it would be best to model something small and personal and print each one in each different material.....just a thought
