About this Product

I present my jigsaw blade holder, designed to fit into the lanyard attachment on the Leatherman Wave and Charge multitools, after some initial readjusting of the interface to ensure the correct fit on whichever Leatherman tool it is to be used on.
It is designed to hold the 'T-shank' type jigsaw blades securely, but will also hold the other, smaller kind of jigsaw fitting, though not as securely.

This holder was designed as an experiment and I consider it design to be right on the limit of what the 3D printed stainless steel can do. The Leatherman tool interface is definitely the weakest point and can't be made any stronger due to space limitations in the Leatherman tool itself.

To complete the holder assembly; four M3 threads need to be tapped into the top holes and four M3x6mm grub screws installed into these threaded holes which will help secure the blade (not included). Also material will need to be ground away from the Leatherman interface part of the holder. How much material needs removing, depends on which tool (wave or charge) the holder is for as well as the subtle differences between each tool and the holder itself. This can be a time-consuming process, as only small amounts should be ground away at a time, between test fittings. Please see the picture above for an indication of where material will likely need removing from.

Please be aware that the holder may feel quite tight when installed into the multitool for the first time, as it's surface is rough. It should however free up over time.

@yooden The Leatherman interface (the two prongs) will initially be quite rough, due to the printing process. Over time this roughness will be smoothed away to some extent, though the continual mating and removal of the holder from the Leatherman tool, eventually giving a tight fitting, but not overly stiff holder.

If it is a tight fit to begin with, and frees up over time, will it be slack and shaky after still more time? What is the mechanism here?
