About this Product

My take on a Chupacabra skeleton. I went with a more monkey-like appearance, with big claws, similar to a sloth's. (inspired by that one alien show where they say they caught one in a mini bear-trap but it was really a squirrel monkey. If you've seen it then you know.) The Chupacabra is a mythical creature found in the southern U.S. and throughout Central America. It is said to feed on goats, similar to a vampire bat. The jaw is hinged and removable. This model is part of the "Mythic Articulations" product line. This model has been successfully printed in WSF.

Please note: The model for sale has its tail in a more natural curved position, not straight out like the photos. Please see the Shapeways render.

@split I have spoken to them and they have agreed to issue you a reprint or refund. Please contact them and let them know which you would prefer. The model is supposed to come with a jaw, but (I assume) due to the holiday rush, the jaw went missing.

@Brian_Richardson I just ordered this model and it doesn't include the jaw and shapeways is telling me that's how it was designed and there is nothing they can do about it and that I should have read the description.

@katsunakii Out of the 109 that have been printed so far, I've only heard of 4 coming without the jaw. The last two I believe were overlooked because of the large number of holiday orders Shapeways is getting. The current version of the model has the jaw sprued to the skull. I will need to be trimmed/ twisted off, but that should prevent it from being lost again.

I would really like to order one of these but it sounds like maybe nobody has ever received a full figure? Can the design be altered in some way to remedy the print quality? Thanks

@Brian_Richardson Thank you, really appreciate your efforts. I understand it was Shapeways responsibility. I appreciate the quick response and assistance.

@OCSLacker I have contacted Customer service on your behalf and am still waiting on a response. The model does come with a jaw, and Shapeways should be responsible for ensuring all parts in the file are included. If the model did not come with a jaw, it is an error on their part, and I am unable to help. I do not have any extra jaws to send.

@Brian_Richardson Yet another missing jaw! This is a gift and must be shipped out by Friday, December 19th. Shapeways claims it does not come with the jaw and suggest I contact you directly. I sent an email but decided to try and contact you here due to time constraints.

@cyrsign I think that the printing team doesn't know what they are doing. This model does come with a jaw. If you look at the renders, it is located inside the torso. With the updated pricing model, you are actually paying an extra handling fee for the jaw since it is a seperate piece, so there is no excuse that it does not come with it. I will contact them and try and work out a resolution. In the mean time, If you would like to send me a shipping address (mythicarticulations@gmail.com), I have a spare jaw that I would be willing to send you.

@Brian_Richardson Another missing jaw! I sent you an PM regarding this, but the update from Shapeways is that they won't be resolving the issue with a new piece, just a refund. Feeling a bit duped with the purchase, seeing as though it looked like the issue had been resolved, and the photo advertises this piece with a jaw. Shapeways is telling me the "updated" model does not come with one.

I received my chupacabra without a lower jaw also, but they quickly replaced it. This is a wonderful model and I plan on purchasing more. I just want to be assured I will receive all the pieces.

@Brian_Richardson Shapeways corrected the problem and shipped a replacement model and additional lower jaw as you said they probably would. Thank!

@EricHo I did contact Shapeways and problem was cleared up, replacement model and lower jaw were shipped. Thanks! Shapeways has great costumer support!

@Brian_Richardson Thanks for the quick response. I'm sure shapeways will help solve this. Again I love the model and also love the bare fronted hoodwink I received today!

@KavinskysChild It should come with the jaw. Shapeways is usually pretty good about fixing that kind of stuff. I ordered a skull once and it came without the jaw, so they sent me a whole new one. (And one model once came with two jaws. Go figure.) Good to see the rest of it made it, and glad you like it.

Here's how it arrived? I've sent an email to Shapeways also as I assume this is not the designers fault. Minus the lower jaw thought, I still love the model. Very detailed.

I ordered and today recieved mine, however it is missing the lower jaw. Is that sold separate?

I've been wanting this for a while, and I finally ordered one in WSF. Cannot wait to get mine! Great work, @Brian_Richardson!

@KavinskysChild Yes, it is! I ordered one, and it's incredibly detailed!
December 19, 2013, 2:42 pm
@KavinskysChild It is. I'll add that to the description. Thanks for pointing that out.

Is the mouth articulated? One photo shows it open and another shows the mouth closed.

This is an amazing design- very nice modeling!
