Why cant i put prices in GBP? :(
September 25, 2014, 5:18 am
@Ezan Yes, Paypal is one of the payment options at checkout.
August 21, 2014, 2:16 pm
Is a lot of money, I want paypal to buy
August 21, 2014, 9:20 am
@brickk Yes, the d10 of this set is available individually at https://www.shapeways.com/model/108480/thorn-die10.html and as a 10d10 set at https://www.shapeways.com/model/1147975/10d10thorndice.html
August 10, 2014, 3:54 pm
Is it possible to just order d10s? I'd like to get a set of 6 d10s, but I don't see a way to do that...
August 10, 2014, 2:03 pm
@Lonwid Yes, Shapeways does ship to Mexico.
May 24, 2014, 5:04 pm
do you ship those into Mexico?
May 24, 2014, 3:56 pm
I just received this set today, in Polished Nickel Steel. I wanted the metal to be bright but not too "shiny and new" looking, and they actually look like the first stainless steel preview picture, which is exactly what I was looking for. Color is even light grey all around, no brassiness. They're fantastic! :) They have a good weight that doesn't feel cheap or like it would damage tables (maybe only very soft wood tables). I also didn't get any polishing medium stuck in mine, surprisingly. All-around very happy with my purchase - thank you!
May 7, 2014, 6:47 pm
@UncleKrakken Yes, that is the new terminology for the two bronze-finished steels.
April 19, 2014, 10:39 pm
I really like the look of the antique bronze glossy, but I don't see the option for that one? I'm new here, is Polished Bronze Steel or Matte Bronze Steel the same thing? Because those are the bronze options I see.
April 19, 2014, 7:44 pm
@AssumingStraw This set does not include a decader d10 for d100 rolls. This set with a decader d10 is at https://www.shapeways.com/model/126266/thorn-dice-set-with-decader.html
March 30, 2014, 2:56 pm
I was just wondering if there was another d10 because in a normal dice set there is supposed to be a d100
March 30, 2014, 1:14 pm
@Slivers Yep, that's the matte black steel. The color of the light is giving them an odd cast. In person, it's a matte black with the slightest tinge of dark green.
March 26, 2014, 9:08 pm
Is the last picture really "Matte Black Steel"? It certainly does not look "black" and definitely more "bronze-ish" Thanks!
March 26, 2014, 8:09 pm
@lawman5014 Thanks for liking my work! The technology used for metal printing isn't actually that new. The process of laying down the stainless steel powder is time- and power-consuming. Once the object is in a "green" state, it is sprued, put in a kiln and infiltrated with molten bronze. The infiltrated model then needs to have the sprue cut off and is then polished and a finish is added if it's not basic stainless steel. With the amount of effort required for a single stainless steel die, I'm amazed they aren't more expensive. I'm sure the price will go down as the technology develops to the point where less human involvement in the process is required, but for now, Shapeways is the most affordable place in the world to produce 3D printed metal objects.
March 6, 2014, 3:04 pm
Not only you (so please don't take this personally) but the entire line of metal dice on the shapeways website seems sooo expensive. You're stuff seems awesome and I'd be willing to shell out $35-$40 a set of dice but I just can't get myself to pay anything near the $70/$80 range that most good looking metal dice set on here are going for. My question to you (ceramicwombat) is is the cost so high due to the newness of the technology with it expected to decrease in price over several years? I'm just wanting to understand. I appreciate your response and all your stuff does look fantastic.
March 6, 2014, 1:38 pm
@ZaneCelmer That's correct, the plastic version is much lighter than the metal version.
January 26, 2014, 7:53 pm
Im guessing the plastic models arent as heavy as the metal?
January 26, 2014, 7:32 pm
@ceramicwombat thanks I saw that after I mentioned it .. I bought myself four of them .. thanks .. they are beautiful can't wait :)
January 14, 2014, 3:30 am
@Skip1466 No, I don't have the d6s as a set, but they are available individually at https://www.shapeways.com/model/108881/thorn-die6.html
January 14, 2014, 1:01 am
I was wondering if you sell just the Six Sided Dice in a set .. I looking at purchasing a set of 6 (6 sided
January 13, 2014, 7:43 pm
@KalindaS Thanks for liking my dice! Due to variations in the production process and the infusion of the stainless steel matrix with molten bronze, some color variations can occur. It's not a different material, but it is unusual because I have seen color variations between sets but not within the same set.
December 31, 2013, 12:57 am
@ceramicwombat I just got these in stainless steel for a friend for x-mas and they are gorgeous! The d8 looks different then all the others though, they seem to have a sort of goldish tint and the d8 has just a silvery one. Is there a possibility something arrived in a different material? (sorry, meant to 'contact designer' but the button refuses to work)
December 31, 2013, 12:46 am
@Chaeris The turnaround time depends on the material. The turnaround for each material is listed at https://www.shapeways.com/materials?li=nav
December 14, 2013, 2:13 am
I'm in France, if I buy it, when will I receive it ?
December 13, 2013, 8:25 pm
@awze Yep, they are all available individually at https://www.shapeways.com/shops/madebywombat?section=Thorn+Dice+Set&s=0
December 10, 2013, 11:16 pm
is it possible to get a set with 4d6 or anywhere to buy the dice individually?
December 10, 2013, 8:44 pm
@doombladez They are very light in the plastic materials. They still roll but don't have the heft of normal dice or these dice in metal.
December 10, 2013, 10:02 am
How do these roll in the strong & flexible or detail plastic types? Are they functional or just decorative? Thanks!
December 10, 2013, 6:43 am
Found your dice on Failblog (In the 'Win!' portion, not as a fail). http://cheezburger.com/7926165504
December 8, 2013, 1:10 am
@Andres78 sure! The two in front are Matte Bronze Steel, the one in the back left is Stainless Steel, and the one in the back right is Polished Gold Steel :)
November 22, 2013, 1:47 pm
@mboylevt the dice of the picture, can you tell us which finishes correspond to each one exactly? Thanks!
November 22, 2013, 12:26 pm
@OMGpopcorn Nope, I don't have the set in polished gold steel or matte gold steel to compare the two.
November 21, 2013, 2:53 am
@ceramicwombat Is there a picture of the polished gold steel and matte gold steel anywhere so I can compare the two? I really love the design and have been looking for a unique set of dice for D&D for a while.
November 20, 2013, 11:07 pm
@ceramicwombat OK I'll try! Thanks a lot
October 22, 2013, 2:15 pm
@Bigmace The stainless steel often comes with lots of polishing medium trapped in the numbers. If it is obscuring the numbers, you can remove it with an Xacto blade or toothpick.
October 21, 2013, 9:03 pm
@ceramicwombat They're made in stainless steel
October 21, 2013, 2:44 pm
@Bigmace Glad you like them! What material are they?
October 21, 2013, 2:37 pm
Just bought this fantastic dice set. They're amazing!! Unfortunately some numbers of the d20 are not clearly readable. Any suggestion?
October 21, 2013, 8:15 am
@Mo94 Thanks! I'm glad you like them.
September 11, 2013, 12:18 am
These thorn dice are perfect! I love them so much. Great work!! :) Badly shapeways failed and produced 2 d12 but non d20 but I am sure, that they are going to fix this mistake. I love your work, thank you very much! :)
September 10, 2013, 8:52 pm
@alicepeace In stainless steel they are very durable, they roll nicely, and, in my opinion, are worth the money.
May 12, 2013, 3:04 pm
Thinking of buying these for my boyfriend as a birthday present, he's a big D&D fan, but they're very expensive. I just want to know how durable they are, how they roll and if they're worth the money.
May 12, 2013, 1:27 pm
Days I wish I had more money, this is one of them.
March 10, 2013, 6:48 am
Thorn dice in various finishes at shapeways HQ :)
January 17, 2013, 8:06 pm
I bought these in stainless steel for my boyfriend as a late Christmas gift. They arrived yesterday and we are both very impressed! Amazing dice!
December 29, 2012, 4:49 pm
Got my lovely new stainless steel dice. They are excellent, but I don't recommend dropping the d8 onto bare feet. Drew blood lol.
December 18, 2012, 3:15 am
I believe Shapeways delivers to Belarus, but please confirm by sending your question to service@Shapeways.com
December 13, 2012, 10:16 am
How can I order delivery to Belarus?
December 13, 2012, 5:48 am
You should go with the antique bronze if you want them to look old. The stainless steel can sometimes have bronzey tones, but the antique bronze finish is actually very dark.
November 11, 2012, 2:56 pm
sorry for the stupid question, but wich material is better for this set, antique bronze glossy or stainless steel? i want they look great and "old", so i was thinking they were better in antique bronze, but in the photos it is not so different from stainless steel. what do you suggest me? also sorry for the bad english, i'm italian
November 11, 2012, 11:14 am
This set has a standard d10 numbered by ones (1, 2, 3, 4...). The set with the decader includes the standard d10 as well as the decader d10 numbered by 10s (10, 20, 30, 40...). This allows the two d10s to be rolled together to produce d100 results.
September 19, 2012, 9:33 am
What is the difference between these and the ones with the decaders?
September 19, 2012, 3:37 am
I got my order delivered today, and I'm downright impressed by this set! I had originally wanted to get the one with the decader, but couldn't afford it, so I compromised and got this set. It was more than I had imagined! Had some of the polish grains in the nooks and crannies, but was able to take all that out with an X-acto knife. Can't wait to put these babies into play! As a collector of dice, this is my all-time favorite purchase!
July 28, 2012, 1:41 am
Black strong and flexible is the dyed version of the white strong and flexible. It is made of sintered nylon. The strong and flexible materials are made of sintered nylon. Dice printed out in strong and flexible will work as decorative objects but are very light and will not work well as dice.
May 30, 2012, 2:27 am
sorry meant black strong flexible
May 29, 2012, 11:00 pm
I was wondering what the black strong detail dice were made of and how they looked.
May 29, 2012, 10:59 pm
Sorry rhapsody101 for not answering your question immediately, and thanks ghaithr for answering it. It seems Shapeways hasn't been sending notifications when I have comments on models for at least the past month. Sorry again!
May 27, 2012, 9:44 pm
rhapsody and metteomac, the difference is that the "with decader" set hat an extra d10 that has markings of 00, 10, 20, 30, etc up to 90 instead of 0 to 9. You would use the two d10s together to roll % on something.
May 27, 2012, 9:01 pm
rhapsody, i was going to ask the very same question. what is the difference?
May 27, 2012, 7:47 pm
I'm terribly sorry for the stupid question, but what is the difference between this set and the one 'with decader'?
April 19, 2012, 4:06 am
I just received my set last night (stainless) and I have to admit these have instantly become my favorite set. I threw some test rolls (~100) last night and I did not find any apparent bias on any of the dice. I do have to say that I love the overall weight in my hand compared to my other sets. I also noticed that once I roll these dice they do not tend to have the typical bounce associated with acrylic dice, these dice hit the table and only take one maybe two hops before coming to rest with a very satisfying thump. Delivery time (12 days) was outstanding considering the level of detail on these dice and the fact that they are hand made when ordered. Wombat I will be ordering more dice to add to my collection as well as for gifts for all of my gaming friends. On a side note I would love to see the steam punk dice in a full set to use with Shadow Run as well as a Star Trek set for when we play. I'm not evil! I'm chaotic neutral!
April 5, 2012, 7:11 pm
I just got them in the mail... 18 days later. Took some time, but I know he will love then, thank you! I bought the stainless steel because I want him to have a unique set ;) the roll lovely, though i know nothing about the point of them XD Thank you very much!!! I am getting a chainmail bag for them to not onlt save them from puncturing his normal bags but also to look more fitting. thanks again! Very happy with the purchase.
December 9, 2011, 3:35 am
I just ordered them as a gift for my fiance. I hope they look as amazing in person as the image above. :)
November 21, 2011, 1:07 am
From the order date, delivery time will be 10 business days for plastic or 14 days for metal. The cutoff date for holiday orders this year is December 4.
November 10, 2011, 10:00 am
How long will these take to get to somewhere in the northwest?
November 10, 2011, 3:14 am
Again, many thanks!
November 7, 2011, 4:20 am
The plain stainless have a grittier, more antiqued look than the other finishes.
November 7, 2011, 3:18 am
Ok, thank you! Also, which one would look the most "battle used" in your opinion?
November 7, 2011, 12:02 am
The bronze is a patina, the gold is electroplated (I think). Information about the finishes is at http://www.shapeways.com/materials/stainless_steel_finishes I have dice with a bronze finish, and they do not show wear from being in a bag with other dice yet (and I have had them for about a year). I have no experience with the gold finish.
November 6, 2011, 12:49 am
So, if I were to get the bronze or gold ones, what makes it those colors? Like, what material? I don't want any of it scraping or flaking off.
November 6, 2011, 12:05 am
Hmmm, I'm stumped as to why your computer won't display the picture.
October 20, 2011, 9:08 am
thanks. did all that. still doesnt work.
October 20, 2011, 2:33 am
If you use Firefox, go to Tools>Clear Recent History, select Cache, and click Clear Now. If that doesn't help, try updating Java or using a different browser.
October 19, 2011, 8:00 pm
okay Im new at this, whats a cache? and how do I clear it?
October 19, 2011, 4:49 pm
I have a cloth dice bag and I haven't noticed any damage to it. They are pokey but not tremendously sharp.
October 14, 2011, 12:29 am
How does the dice bag hold up to these, I have a pretty nice Buffalo leather bag and would prefer for it to remain intact.
October 13, 2011, 7:01 pm
Try clearing the cache on your browser. Shapeways made a few changes to their site and it does not seem to play well with all browsers yet.
October 9, 2011, 8:00 pm
so is anyone else having a problem seeing the pictures? I click on it but cant see anything.
October 9, 2011, 7:16 pm
so is anyone else having a problem seeing the pictures? I click on it but cant see anything.
October 9, 2011, 7:16 pm
I just got these, I'm in the US, and holy schlamoly are they awesome! I got the stainless steel ones. Very, very impressive. Weighty, pointy, they seem to be very well balanced, and overall an incredibly impressive package all-around. Many, many thanks!
October 3, 2011, 7:10 pm
I have not had any packages from Shapeways held for customs fees, but I know other people have reported on the forums that they have had packages held. If it ships from Shapeways' new US distribution hub, it shouldn't be a problem.
September 16, 2011, 1:05 am
I have a question about shipping...I am located in the US. Will my package be held for customs fees?
September 16, 2011, 12:43 am
This set is slightly larger than standard dice. They are not available in larger sizes.
August 28, 2011, 5:08 pm
I assume these are standard 16mm size. Can you get a large 35mm size and get individual die (d20)instead of a set? Pricing?
August 28, 2011, 4:08 pm
In the white polished, I think they look better in the picture of the white polished
August 20, 2011, 1:21 am
Did you order them in stainless steel or in one of the plastic materials? The photo above is of the set in stainless steel.
August 20, 2011, 12:09 am
Kind of disappointed to be honest, picture is really deceptive as to how these look. Wish refunds were available.
August 19, 2011, 10:19 pm
Ooh, ok, thanks!
July 6, 2011, 10:36 am
No, there is not an image in the indigo, but there are pictures of the dice in various other Strong and Flexible colors at http://www.dicecollector.com/THE_DICE_THEME_SHAPEWAYS.html
July 6, 2011, 3:18 am
Is there an image of the Indigo?
July 6, 2011, 12:07 am
Nope, the frosted detail is plastic.
June 25, 2011, 3:32 am
Is the frosted detail metal?
June 25, 2011, 12:00 am
Yes. I haven't noticed a bias in them, and I use them every week.
April 13, 2011, 1:16 am
Are these dice balanced?
April 12, 2011, 11:35 pm
The bronze finish dice are stainless steel with a bronze patina.
April 1, 2011, 4:10 pm
Are the Bronze finish dice actually made of plastic, or metal? (They look awesome either way!)
April 1, 2011, 4:02 pm
I'm drolling by just imagining these in metal...
December 14, 2010, 5:43 am
wow!
