About this Product

This is a modernized version of the hidden blade from the assassin's creed series based off of concept art from the assassin's creed encyclopedia. This hidden blade is a dual action design and uses a very similar mechanism to what is used in the game and is easy to put together. Please note that kit does not include a blade but a blade for this kit can be found in my shop. Other materials needed for this kit: rubber bands (varying sizes) or springs, a ring (optional), and string of some kind

Is the price going to increase when its out of beta?
September 1, 2014, 3:38 pm
is this a dual action or just a gravity blade?
August 17, 2014, 9:27 am
Love this product but want some feedback on pics or vids
August 7, 2014, 4:31 am
Hey, what is the size spring to use in this thing and where do you buy them. I would like to know this before I buy.
August 6, 2014, 6:05 am
Any videos or other pictures to verify the product?
August 1, 2014, 7:50 pm
Wait nvm.
July 24, 2014, 10:19 pm
Would I be able to replace the blade with a metal one easily?
July 24, 2014, 9:20 pm
If you had a video I will buy 2
July 23, 2014, 9:13 am
Have you tested it
July 23, 2014, 9:12 am
Can we get a demo video of the device working anytime soon?
July 14, 2014, 12:37 am
@reytheassassin Yeah, this one is gonna take some work to get it going. It kinda locks TOO well, like before adding in the springs, it'll lock into the closed position or lock in the open and regardless of how hard you try to make it unlock, it wont.
July 13, 2014, 3:48 pm
does it lock?
July 9, 2014, 8:23 pm
@thedailyraven202 It'll be delivered today :)
July 9, 2014, 10:55 am
@NightmareWolfz did you get it?????
July 9, 2014, 3:14 am
Just purchased, waiting on it to be shipped and I'll let you all know how it goes.

Any update on the one person who has bought and assembled this?
February 27, 2014, 3:14 am
@Lightman ok thanks if you have the informtion i will surely buy it
February 15, 2014, 11:36 am
@yaron1 it is on sale but it has yet to guaranteed to work but is believed to be functional. One person has gotten the item and I am in contact with them, so when they put the parts together I will be able to say for sure whether it works or if it needs further modification.
February 12, 2014, 5:24 pm
is it on sale right now
February 12, 2014, 2:46 pm
@vulcan there's a link in the description above ^^ but the title is Lightman productions

I tried searching you up on Facebook what'syour id
February 7, 2014, 8:25 pm
@vulcan I do have a YouTube channel and it will be posted there.. At the moment the channel is unused but you can go ahead and search it if you want :P
February 7, 2014, 8:16 pm
@Lightman cool are you putting it up on YouTube do you have a channel
February 7, 2014, 8:09 pm
@vulcan I have not gotten a hidden blade for myself yet as I don't have the funding at the moment :/ when I get the money this will be the first item I'm ordering band the video will be up as soon as I get it
February 4, 2014, 12:48 am
have you got the hidden blade yet and if so how soon are you gong to be putting the video up
February 4, 2014, 12:46 am
What on YouTube is called the "pulley system" for hidden blades.. String runs around the middle tier and through the blade and out the other end with bothe ends tied to the case pulling the blade out when the middle tier extends
February 2, 2014, 6:38 am
how does the blade stay out
February 2, 2014, 6:33 am
@Drexik I have yet to be able to get a model for myself yet but it is believed to be working, but no guarantee. Video coming as soon as I can get one.
February 1, 2014, 11:31 pm
is it working yet
February 1, 2014, 11:21 pm
I'll buy it with pleasure
January 7, 2014, 9:27 am

January 7, 2014, 9:27 am
Why it's not for sale7
January 7, 2014, 9:27 am
OMG you need to put this on sale
December 12, 2013, 9:46 pm
so is this fully functional and duel action? i just want to double check
November 30, 2013, 1:12 am
@Lightman how's it coming?

@GL2814 most likely the beginning of November. Like my page on Facebook to stay updated.
October 23, 2013, 8:52 am
im lookin forward to gettin this kit but i want to wait on the instructional video first. do you have an eta of when thatll get put out???
October 23, 2013, 2:09 am
Thanks. It looks absolutely awesome. Can't wait till out of prototype phase.
October 15, 2013, 7:21 pm
@Andy0071 while I have a respect for the wheel design I don't find it to be very practical if the blade was to be used for its intended purpose (though it's not recommended) but if one was to use this blade to stab a man in the gut it would be much easier to flick his wrist stab and release than to flick his wrist stab and flick again
October 15, 2013, 7:18 pm
Yes I am referring to the wheel mechanism. Thanx
October 15, 2013, 5:33 pm
@Andy0071 everything will be made from plastic but you can replace any parts you might want with metal although its "not recommended". The price will remain the same and when you say pulley system are you referring to the wheel mechanism that is popular on these projects?
October 15, 2013, 4:33 pm
Thanx for the info. There are just a couple more things that I need to get straight. Firstly it is made from metal right? Will there be any further change in price once out of prototype phase? I see there is no pulley system could you elaborate on that (pro or con) if possible. I'll really appreciate it thanx.
October 15, 2013, 4:27 pm
@Andy0071 the blade only requires one hand to extend and retract and it does not come with a manual but when the blade comes out of prototype phase I will post a video of it functioning and how to put everything together.
October 14, 2013, 6:04 pm
*hands (plural). Does the kit come with a manual?
October 14, 2013, 5:59 pm
Does the blade require two hand work?
October 14, 2013, 5:19 pm
Hey there! I was wondering, will this hidden blade, after all the parts are aquirred and put together, be a dual action blade?
October 12, 2013, 4:51 am
how are the designs coming along?
October 1, 2013, 6:05 pm
ya thats fine it needs some work but i can get it to work
September 27, 2013, 1:52 am
@Drexik you realize it's still a prototype? And I'm not 100% sure it's fully working yet
September 26, 2013, 8:29 pm
i just got mine
September 26, 2013, 8:17 pm
@Drexik the parts are coming in on the 30th
September 26, 2013, 7:24 pm
when will the video be up
September 26, 2013, 7:23 pm
@Kouri my design does not require a scotch yoke mechanism and does function to both extend and retract in a manner similar to a switchblade.. Wait until I have the parts in hand and I will show you how everything works.
September 19, 2013, 7:51 pm
@Lightman Yeah, I saw the middle tier blade lock. However, the method your using doesn't actually "lock" the assembly in the extended position if it relies on the user holding the string. More over, while you've mimicked the Dual-Action Out-to-Front spring launching mechanism, you're missing the associated locks that keep the blade locked at either end. Moreover, a scotch yoke would be required to actuate the DA-OTF switch both directions. Don't get me wrong - what you have makes for a great cosplay prop and is a neat bit of engineering. However, you might want to adjust your description wording a bit. This blade doesn't use us a DA-OTF launching/locking mechanism, it doesn't lock in both positions, and I'm worried some mis-informed folks might be buying this kit expecting it to be something it isn't.
September 19, 2013, 7:35 pm
@Kouri yes and the lock to keep the blade extended is on the middle tier
September 19, 2013, 7:08 pm
@Lightman I don't see any components that would lock the blade in the extended position. Is this still designed to only stay extended so long as the string is held taut, and to retract the moment one releases the string?
September 19, 2013, 4:56 pm
@Lightman I'm sure it will, I finally convinced the troupe I am a part of to let me make an assassin persona, I am going to purchase this with the optional upgrades and I will be sure to upload pictures if not a video of it it action.
September 17, 2013, 5:04 pm
@holysorrow yes it locks in both positions and I hope it works well for your costume, feel free to upload pics to my facebook page I'd love to see what everyone is able to do with this prop.
September 17, 2013, 5:01 pm
@Lightman Thank you, I do Renaissance Fairs and I am working on a new costume and would love to us this underneath a bracer. If all works well I will be recommending this to fellow actors. Also, is it locking by chance?
September 17, 2013, 4:37 pm
@holysorrow yes it uses a two way spring system
September 17, 2013, 4:33 pm
@Lightman This is spring loaded both ways correct?
September 17, 2013, 4:18 pm
alright, thanks.
September 17, 2013, 1:23 pm
@Richmanbroke sorry I forgot to make the alternate blade public, it's up now. And the stainless steel spring guides are just a little more durable but not required.. It's only available in stainless steel because someone said they wanted it that way
September 17, 2013, 12:24 pm
@Lightman on your Facebook page, it said something about an alternative blade that can be worn on either wrist for sale (unless I misread) where is that blade? And also, what is the difference in buying the stainless steel spring guides instead of the regular ones that come with the kit?
September 17, 2013, 7:20 am
ok
September 16, 2013, 5:53 pm
@Drexik the line that goes from near the back to about the middle.
September 16, 2013, 5:50 pm
Which hole on the bottom?
September 16, 2013, 5:44 pm
Which hole on the bottom?
September 16, 2013, 5:42 pm
@Drexik The string goes in the slide and through the bottom casing. There are holes cut to make it an easy process.
September 16, 2013, 5:34 pm
where does the string attach to it
September 16, 2013, 5:31 pm
@Drexik well nothing's broken but I uploaded the final draft design and it's on it's way in. Until I can test it the product is still a prototype
September 16, 2013, 3:44 pm
is it fixed now
September 16, 2013, 4:59 am
ya me too
September 15, 2013, 10:15 am
@jagger_c thank you I look forward to your purchase :)
September 15, 2013, 7:14 am
@Lightman alright thanks for the heads up I'll probably wait until it works it looks like a great design though.
September 15, 2013, 6:58 am
@jagger_c as far as shipping time I would say a week or so depending on how fast shapeways decides to print and where you are that they'd have to ship it to. At this point I cannot guarantee that it will work. I have the prototype in and I have been tinkering with it the past few days but I have been unable to find a spring powerful enough to make it fully extend or retract but until I have that and am able to order a final draft of the blade it is still a prototype. I encourage everyone to wait until I can guarantee a working model to buy but I leave it up for sale for those who are willing to make it work if it doesn't already.
September 15, 2013, 6:33 am
@Lightman and it is spring loaded both ways right?
September 15, 2013, 6:18 am
@Lightman how fast do these normally ship? because i may order one on Monday. Also can you guarantee it will work even if its a bit finicky that's fine i will be doing a couple modifications anyway.
September 15, 2013, 6:07 am
i can not find 7/16" diameter magnets can you help me find some and if not can you change it to 3/8 diameter magnets because i have those?
September 13, 2013, 9:15 pm
@Lightman so... Is it dual action then?
September 8, 2013, 11:58 pm
@Lawliet yes and no. The blade does both extend and retract but imangine having to stab someone with this blade inconspicuously but having to pull the string twice. It makes the process longer less smooth and much more noticeable. But as long as you have the string pulled the blade will be out and as soon as you let go the blade will retract. If you watch gameplay when Ezio is hit hard enough sometimes his blades will retract and come back out after a second so I wanted to be as true to the game and practical as possible.
September 8, 2013, 3:54 pm
Is it dual action? Like does it retract back when pulling the string?
September 8, 2013, 10:49 am
I'd love to see the assembly video and the working prop! The deciding factor on my potential purchase.
September 8, 2013, 10:41 am
@Lightman, this is a DA OTF blade? this is astounding man! once this comes out of prototype stage, could you put up an assembly video? i'll buy one or two without hesitation! again, amazing work!
September 3, 2013, 11:15 pm
@GTSlipnot as long as it fits inside of the middle tier and has a blade catch like the one that comes with it I don't see why a custom blade wouldn't work. I made a metal version of the standard blade it comes with and it works even better than the 3d printed version, but *disclaimer: I don't not recommend replacing the blade that comes with this kit in any way for legal and safety reasons and I do not claim responsibility for the actions of those who but my product.
August 28, 2013, 7:06 pm
@Lightman that would be great! Will there be any way fitting a custom blade? Have some planz that look good and would like to test them.
August 28, 2013, 6:53 pm
@GTSlipnot Trust me I'm in the same boat, unfortunately with collage classes starting back I haven't had as much time to work but hopefully this weekend the design will be amended and I'll have mine in the mail. When it comes in everything will be updated and l will post a video of assembly and function both on shapeways and my Facebook page.
August 28, 2013, 6:48 pm
When will it most likely be fully functional and ready to go? I can't wait anymore! LOVE it!
August 28, 2013, 6:41 pm
@matthewhex https://www.facebook.com/lightmanproductions
August 26, 2013, 7:21 pm
@Lightman post some pics anyways
August 23, 2013, 1:08 pm
UPDATE: the prototype version of this kit came in the mail and due to to much flexibility in the slide mechanism the blade didn't function properly. An update is coming soon to fix this issue and a video will be posted as soon as this product is no longer considered a prototype.
August 23, 2013, 5:57 am
@Lorizee1 this item is currently in prototype phase, a video of the working model will be up as soon as it is proven fully functional.
August 19, 2013, 2:21 am
@Lightman does this actually work
August 19, 2013, 1:41 am
@Lightman does this actually work
August 19, 2013, 1:40 am
@Lightman ok kool man ill check back in a week or so
August 9, 2013, 2:30 am
@matthewhex other materials would cause issues with the wall thickness and the locks at the bottom of the casing and would be to expensive to be worth it. And I'm unable to do a motion simulation in solidworks because of the parts from outside the kit but its the same basic idea of a simplified OTF blade.
August 9, 2013, 2:07 am
@Lightman you could also make a video on how it should work on whatever design app that you used
August 9, 2013, 1:49 am
@Lightman so around the end of august, beginning of September.kool man i hope it works right because im looking forward to purchasing it.also if it is indeed a working model do you think you will allow other materials or what?
August 9, 2013, 1:47 am
@matthewhex shapeways estimated ship date is the 23rd so I should have it within a week of that time and a video will be up the same day I get it.
August 9, 2013, 1:22 am
@Lightman okay awesome when do you think you think you will get the product?
August 9, 2013, 12:53 am
@matthewhex well one change was because shapeways considered the blade portion a weapon and refused to print it but now that issue is solved. The other was a minor improvement to make the blade not only more stable but longer and more accurate to the concept art from the encyclopedia. Rather than making this a separate product I decided to go ahead and add it in before anyone had gotten it.
August 9, 2013, 12:33 am
i saw you made a change to the design.whats going on with that?
August 9, 2013, 12:27 am
@nakamura_shop Thanks for the support! As a note to everyone here I plan on making several attachments, alternative blade types, and casings for my version of the hidden blade. I'm also taking suggestions for things of this nature so feel free to comment things you'd like to see in the near future.
August 5, 2013, 4:53 am
@Lightman Suggest: if you will add a video of the working blade you'll sell thousand,i'm sure, i'll promote your work,is fantastic
August 4, 2013, 11:30 pm
@nakamura_shop no problem I bought the parts yesterday and the estimated ship date is the 20th. Ill keep everyone updated the best I can.
August 4, 2013, 2:21 pm
can you add some photo of real assembled item? this is really a great job!!!
August 4, 2013, 12:09 pm
@GL2814 right now I don't have the money to buy one for myself but I should by the end of the week. After that I will make the assembly and demonstration video as soon as the parts come in the mail.
August 2, 2013, 6:53 am
When are you goin to come out with an assembly video? Wanna get one but I wanna wait til after the video comes out to get one
August 2, 2013, 3:02 am
@nathan'sPROPS I see no reason why it shouldn't work but I have yet to buy one for myself for testing.
July 28, 2013, 1:25 am
does it work
July 26, 2013, 11:37 pm
