Simensays RetroHood™ (Loop), GoPro Lens hood

Simensays RetroHood™ (Loop), GoPro Lens hood 3d printed Mechanical parts Accessories

Simensays RetroHood™ )Loop) GoPro Hero 3 Lens Hood

Protective lens hood, for mounting your nakedGoPro to gimbals or various gear. Lens hood protects GoPro lens, blocks out light & reduces lens flare (albeit just a little, as lens hoods for fisheye lenses are limited for obvious reasons). No vignetting in WIDE, MEDIUM or NARROW formats.

Quick Release

The RetroHood™ is mounted with a piece of velcro band (loop). I use a one-sided velcro band, (hook & loop mixed, so it grabs onto itself). Regular velcro band can be used, the two different sides (hook & loop) needs to be sewn into a suitable band. Hole for small lanyard in the lens cap.)

Details

  • Weight: 5g (+2g for the lens cap)
  • Velcro band: 14mm wide, about 15cm / 6" long. Velcro not included.
  • Super simple installation

@kuau This hood should replace the clamp on the H3-XD gimbals, and be used as a camera quick release. There is no need to use both, as it is just dead weight, and a hassle to remove the camera.

@simensays Have you made the modification for the lens shade to fit with the zenmuse gimbal yet? Thanks

@FrankFaster Come to think of it, why do you still use the clamp/bar? The idea behind the hood, is to replace the clamp for quick & easy mounting without tools, while at the same time providing protection to the GoPro lens.

@FrankFaster Yeah, it was not initially made for the Zenmuse - but as you proved, it can be easily modified to fit. I use the Tarot gimbal, and do not have the H3-2D, but I will get my hands on one and make the minor adjustment to the design so it will fit directly. Thanks for your feedback & input.

@FrankFaster Gil thinking of buying one of these, did the Zenmuse balance Ok with the hood fitted?

Hello Simon, just received your RetroHood, unfortunatly it doesnt fit on the Zenmuse Gimbal due to the little Bar, that is holding the GoPro in its place. I cut out a little piece on the left Side. After this it fitted really nice. Maybe you have to adapt your design for Zenmuse owners. Cheers Gil
