Dice Bag
This is a chainmail bag. Typically it's just for gamers to hold their dice. But of course it can have many uses. See it in action on my YouTube link below. And for all you Shapeways designers making your own custom dice, what a better way to protect them, but in a Shapeways printed dice bag!

Check out some really nice dice you can print out as well, if you want something to go into your new bag!

Love this, though I think you are marketing to the wrong crowd. Much better marketed to a whole different genre.

...or you could get a real metal one at Just sayin'...

Good thinking, but in this paticular case, the volume won't actually change. The volume as far as pricing is concerned, is only the price of the chain links. So no matter what shape the bag itself is in, the chain links are still the same volume.

Mightn't it be cheaper if the volume of the model were less, I mean if it were laying more flat when printed out?

Thanks lensman, True it's not the cheapest thing on here, but it's up there with some of the coolest items on here IMHO and face it, don't we all wish we were cool? (ok, maybe not all of us). It's fun to hold like all chainmail is, and it's functional which can't be said about everything we make here. And it's very unlikely you'll see anyone else in the game with a bag like yours! So, for some people at least it's a "reasonable" price at least. I've thought about a smaller bag, to lower the price, but I've waiting to see how this sell first. So far so good. :) If we could get shapeways to lower the material costs..... :)

Agreed, nice design. Unfortunately I find myself saying (as I do with some of my own stuff here) "Hmm - $62 for .... a small bag" Still, a good job.

Thanks drrugg, I used 3D studio Max to make the model to print. It has a more spherical bottom in printed form than these renders look. The model makes it look flat becaues of how its modeled. Be sure to check out the YouTube video if you havn't already that shows it pretty well too.

Very very nice - what program did you make it in? Is it a cylinder with a 'flat'ish bottom?
