@wmwconnors I doubt there's anything you can do about the smoothing. I don't think you can do the red plastic without the smoothing. Orienting it so it's printed on edge might help with the edges. It might be sagging a little around the edges because it's sitting there flat. That's just a guess on my part. It's still pretty cool. Don't get me wrong. :)

@TommySaysSoWhat Thanks for the comments. I'm not sure how much control I'd can manage over some of the options here, but I will look at the design and see if any modifications suggest themselves. I hope the key will still be an entertaining conversation piece for you.

Looks okay, but the polishing really fuzzes out the nuke logo. There's also a fair bit of cupping along the underside and rounding of the edges on the topside. Makes it kinda feel like a cookie. You might want to consider orienting this on-edge for printing? It's beautifully designed, but the actually print is just softer. This might be something more appropriate for a laser cutter instead of additive 3D printing.

@Whantree Sorry about the delay in getting back to you. I have been on the road. My wife and I wear white and red ones - inexpensive but cool looking. We looped chains through the slot in the top and totally get our geek on now. Of course...if you want to by the silver one.... :)

wmwconnors You can watch a clip of this at http://www.anyclip.com/movies/the-andromeda-strain/the-keys-and-diagram/ One of the keys (the red) has a hole for a chain. Also the connector from the handle to the key should be about half the length of the key square. Would you recommend Polished Alumide and Coral Red Polished?

@antienoob It's inspired by the nuclear destruct keys from the 1971 movie Andromeda Strain. If you love good science-based science fiction, it's a brilliant film and great book. Avoid the 2000 something remake...that was horrible.
