Product Description
This is a shell for an N scale Baldwin DRS 4-4-1500. The cab, hood, and sill are all one piece. This is a craftsman kit, and doesn't include handrails or a fuel tank. Handrails could be cobbled together from several different commercially available sources including any of Atlas' or Atlas/Kato's RS2/3/11. The prototype for this unit is Western Maryland 172, and it is accurate for that unit. However, if you are careful, this could be used as a starting point to model any number of Baldwin DRS/AS units, but it will require quite a bit of work on your part! The FUD material can be drilled and cut, but proceed carefully! It can be brittle. NEW! If you are modeling a four axle Baldwin unit, the drive from the Atlas/Kato RS11 will work! Some of the cast weight in the cab area of the drive will have to be removed, but there are no height or width restrictions. TCS' CN series decodes easily convert this drive to DCC and do not affect the fit of the shell. These shells have also been successfully installed on Kato RS mechanisms!
