Product Description

Edge of Insanity could be considered the next puzzle in Oskar van Deventer's "Madness" series of puzzles. The first was More Madness, a face-turning, shallow-cut trigonal dipyramid. Next was Deeper Madness, in which Oskar moved the slice planes slightly past the origin of the puzzle. With Edge of Insanity, I moved the slice planes even further, creating an edge-turning, shallow-cut form.

Like the preceding puzzles, Edge of Insanity is a jumbling puzzle with six axes of rotation. One axis is located under each of the edge pieces of the puzzle. Also like the prior puzzles, every move is a jumbling move, changing the shape of the puzzle. Beware, Edge of Insanity is an easy puzzle to scramble, but not at all easy to solve!

The Edge of Insanity puzzle comes as a DIY kit of parts, and you will need to supply your own stickers. The templates for the stickers are available in the instructions forum.

I recommend that unless you are familiar with the process of dyeing these parts, you purchase the puzzle in "Black Strong & Flexible". It costs a bit more than the white material, but it's worth it since the finished puzzle will look and work better. Edge of Insanity also requires screws and springs to assemble. These can be purchased through a few different online puzzle sellers. The springs I used came from this shop. You'll need six of the springs, combined with six 12mm M3 screws, which you'll need to purchase separately.

Have fun!
