Hint: for a high strength-to-weight ratio think about using 'U', 'H'... thin-walled sections especially in the arms. It will save you money, weight... and check in every new design what would the weight be with certain material. Compare with existing quad frames or it will be hard to sell if it is heavier for a similar size commercial frame.

Nice design baseline! Besides optimizing the shapes/volume (3D printing cost is highly dependent on actual part volume), I suggest making it in several pieces, say four arms and a central body: otherwise breaking any area in a crash of single piece frame would generally mean throwing away the whole thing. Another suggestion is to avoid using 3D printing for parts that can be made via traditional methods (I'm thinking on the central area for instance). Take advantage of 3D printing only for "impossible" shapes. Good luck!

@designandshutter I understand. I've noticed that printing through shapeways isnt cheap. Good luck on redesigning the frame. Im interested in seeing what you come up with. If you redesign it and maybe take the price down a little bit, Ill definitely consider purchasing the frame. Hope it all works out for you

@vetsflyquads My intentions are for the frame to be affordable for hobby enthusiasts. Though I am new to 3d printing and still learning about the costs. The reason it is so expensive at the moment is due to the amount of material it would take and the fact that it would be one solid piece. I plan to redesign it with more strategically placed openings in the frame to lighten the weight though maintain its strength. Thank you very much for the compliment !

Beautiful frame. What about the frame makes it cost so much?? Is this the price that shapeways set for you or did you come up with this price on your own??
