Designing details must not jut out too much, or have deep engravings
Engraved details must not be too deep, and embossed details must not be too tall. The width of your detail must be the same or greater than how far it juts out from the surface (or sinks in for engraving). Engraved details that are too deep will cause issues when casting. Embossed details that are too tall are more likely to chip and break during production (unless the detail meets the minimum wall requirements).
Include escape holes for hollow models
Hollow parts need openings so we can get out the support material, and so we can insert casting plaster. If you have one hole, opening needs to be greater than 4mm in diameter. If you have multiple holes, each hole must be greater than 2mm in diameter. Models with smaller holes may be rejected. Last, having your holes at the opposite ends of the model (one on top, one on bottom) will help the post finishing process.
Wires must be at least 0.8mm thick
Wire frame models are difficult to print and are also fragile in silver. Since silver is less strong than steel, the product will deform when wearing the piece if the wire surface is too thin. It might also snap in the manufacturing process.
Ring bands should be 1mm thick
Ring band (the part that goes around the finger) needs to be 1mm thick to avoid deformation when wearing. Since silver is a weaker or more flexible material, ring bands that are too thin may deform or even break.
Stone holding prongs should be short
Prongs for holding stones cannot be too long without anything connecting them. This connecting beam is to prevent the wax from breaking away. Also, with thin and long prongs, the product will not to be able to hold big stones. Make sure your stone will sit snug and tight.
Some detail is lost for polished materials
Our Premium finish utilizes a deep polish that gives a beautiful shape and finish to your design; however, some detail might be softened. If you intend to design a product with very fine details, please be mindful that fine details jutting out may break off or be softened during polishing, leaving a finish that does not meet your expectations. We will do our best to inform you as early as possible if your intended quality may be jeopardized or if your product cannot be produced in the Premium finish.
Internal detail can not be polished
Our Premium finish can only polish well-reachable surfaces, so tight internal spaces will remain unpolished.
Surface is soft for polished materials
As with other precious metals, the polished surface of silver is soft, so scrapes and scratches are to be expected as a normal part of wear. To minimize damage and ensure your product lasts a lifetime, we recommend storing your jewelry or other products in a soft cloth pouch and away from other products. Avoid exposing the product to household chemicals during cleaning as they can be damaging to the finish. Use a silver polishing kit to maintain a glossy surface.
