About the job
In the position of Portal Development Manager / UX manager you are responsible for the core service of shapeways.com. You are responsible for extending our portal with new features and improving existing ones. The objective is to make shapeways.com the easiest and best co-creation and personalized products portal in the world.
The shopping and creation experience should be straightforward (like a second nature), very easy and fun. Therefore you are expected to improve the overall usability of the portal.
As a Portal Development Manager, product pricing, shop possibilities, stock management, etc are part of your responsibilities as well.
You enable our users to share their experiences with the world and embed the newest trends (like social media and micro blogging) on the internet in the core of our portal.
You will be part of the Product Development team and act as a link between the software development department and your marketing colleagues. You report directly to the CTO.
Finally, you will be part of the Shapeways team, with the exciting opportunity to leave your mark on a promising venture where the opportunities for personal and business growth are immense.

Your key responsibilities
- Build new and improve existing features of shapeways.com
- Translate Shapeways’ strategic goals into a realistic product roadmap
- Execute your product plans in an excellent fashion
- Coordinate with all stakeholders (Marketing, Software Development) to reach your objectives
- Choose the right web technologies to reach your goals
- Make shapeways.com the number 1 in fun, easiest to use co-creation and shopping portal in the world.
Your qualifications
- 4++ years experience in product management of a high traffic, high visibility portal in a similar market
- Solid understanding of internet and web technologies (AJAX, XML-RPC, OpenSocial, HTML5)
- You have a strong affinity with internet portals – much like shapeways.com – and understand our target groups.
- Affinity for 3D modeling and/or creative do-it-yourself consumers
Your skills / abilities
- Entrepreneurial, accountable for results achieved
- Comfortable working in a high energy start-up environment where change is inevitable
- Constructive team worker with good social & communication skills, also in situations where email is the only available medium
- Fluent in English, Dutch language is advantageous though not required
- Living close to Eindhoven, The Netherlands or with a willingness to relocate
