Manufacturing Cell Lead

Job Summary

As Manufacturing Cell Lead you will help bring 3D printing out of the prototyping era and into the future by helping to build a full-scale, lean manufacturing operation that will produce an ever growing number of unique products. You will work alongside our Director of Operations to reduce lead-time, increase quality and take on new production technologies. You will aid in driving down costs per product so our customers can get their creations at a lower price, and in turn, 3D printing becomes a means for personal manufacturing for all. In this position you will report to the Director of Operations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2-5 years in a large-scale manufacturing environment
  • Has utilized/implemented lean methodology and six sigma techniques for process improvements
  • Experience leading and mentoring a small team of 2+ people
  • Driver of change, pro-active, independent and mature
  • Analytical, process-driven thinker
  • Able to obtain, analyze, and use data to make sound decisions (experience with Excel required, experience with SQL a plus)
  • Great communicator, accountable, diplomatic, able to empower employees and delegate
  • Thorough experience in root cause analysis
  • KPI and metrics-driven decision maker
  • Flexibility to work weekends and outside of regular business hours (9:00am-6:00pm)
  • Able to work in a dynamic environment with immense growth

Responsibilities

  • Daily Operations
    • Optimize daily machine usage to maximize throughput
    • Assign daily tasks to 3DP and/or PPD team via daily operations meeting
    • Understand daily planning performance via end of day operations debrief
    • Act as liaison between your team, Director of Ops and other departments/teams
    • Be proactive in developing ideas for improvement
    • Ensure optimum utilization of shift labor (maximize productivity)
  • Coaching, mentoring and leadership
    • Lead weekly team meeting with team and individual KPIs
    • Meet with members of team in weekly one-on-one sessions
    • Report on KPI’s during leadership meeting
    • Reward and celebrate team success
    • Support culture change initiatives within the department
  • Maintains inventory of raw material and places all material orders
  • Manage and supervise all machine maintenance and document all maintenance activity
  • Safety
    • Ensure all team members have sufficient safety equipment and are adhering to factory safety guidelines
    • Help to implement and reinforce safety procedures
  • Support Director of Ops in ad hoc business requests in a timely manner
  • Special Projects
    • OEE and throughput improvement (machine capacity)
    • Standardization and documentation of processes and SOP’s, creating a training plan for new employees
    • Labor capacity analysis
    • Continuous process improvement
    • Support Industrial engineering initiatives
