Shapeways.com is home to a large and diverse community of artists and enthusiasts, who engage in everything from collaborative creation to selling their 3D designs as products through the unique Shapeways Shops, an international marketplace for user created 3D printed products.

Position summary

Shapeways is seeking a financial accountant to join our finance team. We are headquartered in New York, from here we run all our finance operations for the (currently) two entities in the United States and the Netherlands.
You are a self-motivated financial accountant with excellent time management skills and detail orientation. You are a team player and thrive in a startup environment where there are many changes and challenges. You are intimately familiar with transactional accounting across multiple (sub)ledgers. You have obtained extensive experience in reconciling accounts, financial analysis and reporting in a multinational environment. You have a passion for optimizing (financial) processes and deploying high-quality deliverables in a fast moving company with a large and continuously growing transaction volume.

Responsibilities:

  • Back-to-front transactional accounting
    • Accounts payable
    • Accounts receivable
    • Cash and banks
    • Fixed Assets
    • Payroll
    • General ledger
  • Operational cash management, executing payment runs
  • Financial analysis and reporting
  • Support other departments (e.g. Customer service)
  • Various administrative tasks

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor degree in accounting
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar position
  • Experience in working with various (financial) software applications
  • High level of expertise in working with MS Office applications
  • Bonus skill: experience in creating/reviewing/tuning queries (MySQL/Access)
  • High focus on continuous (process) improvements
  • Self-starting, proactive with an eye for detail
  • Effective communicator across all levels of the organization.
