Want to help build the factory of the future? Want to get involved in the "future of manufacturing"? You can be, as our Director of Operations for the New York Production Facility. At our state of the art 3D printing production facility opening in New York City, you will lead the production, distribution and project teams that are taking Shapeways and personal manufacturing to the next level.
You will help bring 3D printing out of the prototyping era and into the future by building full-scale, lean manufacturing operations that will produce an ever growing number of unique products. We already make over 30,000 products per month! You will inspire and lead the team with whom you will scale the operations.
You will be responsible for directing and overseeing Shapeways’ US operational and manufacturing personnel, objectives, and initiatives. In addition, you will monitor and evaluate workflow and assembly methods, making recommendations for process improvements. You would lead and direct the work of the Production Manager, Distribution Manager and Project Manager.
You will be one of the key players helping Shapeways grow by creating a mature, world-class production environment to meeting our customers’ growing needs. You will report to the COO.
Position summary
Direct Responsibilities:
- Ensure manufacturing performance and quality goals are met, if not surpassed
- Hire and lead operations and manufacturing personnel.
- Execute financial planning and control of the plant
- Implement and execute HR policies
- Direct the development of plant procedures for operations, quality, safety and personnel
Qualifications:
- 8+ years work experience, with a significant amount of operational/manufacturing responsibilities
- Master of Science degree
- Manufacturing/plant start-up experience
Skills:
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communications skills
- Ability to lead complex projects from start to finish, involving internal and external stakeholders
- Proactive and independent, requiring minimal direction
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
