Scales of Justice Signet Ring

This is for making impressions on sealing wax in the form of the Scales of Justice, traditionally a symbol of the legal profession. It's also the Zodiac sign for Libra (September 23 - October 22). I'm particularly proud of the details in this one. This takes advantage of the depth variation possible within the seal, so the pans on the scale literally pop out at you.

Premium sealing wax can be ordered through our main website or Etsy Store.

Caution: remove signet rings from your hand before using to make an impression. The ring will get very hot. Please use caution to avoid burns when using fire or hot wax.

In some rare instances, Shapeways stainless steel rings have caused a reaction called "tea staining." This is a (not permanent) brown mark on the skin caused by a chemical reaction with the bronze binder. Research shows that it depends on skin chemistry - some people always get it, most people never do. Some solutions for people concerned with this are coating the skin contact area with clear nail polish, gold plating, or getting the ring made in silver.

This symbol is also available as a seal.

Five-strand braid ring

This ring is composed of a five-stranded braid. The strands have a pentagonal shape for a strong, angular look. I also offer a four-stranded version.

This design is printable in any of the plastic and metal materials. But be aware that the stainless steel-based materials (stainless steel, gold plated, and antique bronze) have a somewhat rough, pitted surface that tends to obscure the details of this design a bit.

Please specify the ring size (US/Canada) when ordering. The design shown above is size 8.25. If you are unsure of your size, you may wish to first order the ring in one of the strong and flexible plastic materials to try it on.
