Robot body for GM10 motors and wheels from Solarbotics or Pololu. The part was made to be easily reproduced with a one-part silicone mold. Be sure to use Transparent Detail if you plan to make a mold.

I have purchased the part in WSF and verified fit of the motors. There is a tiny bit of trimming necessary to fit the motors, but nothing difficult. You will also need to drill a small hole in the bottom front to use as a caster (see assembly model).

A preliminary PCB is available at robotguy.net/Deskpet_PCB.zip (in Cadsoft Eagle format), or use a Baby Orangutan controller.

RANGE/SENSITIVITY ENHANCER FOR PING TYPE ULTRASONIC SENSOR

A low cost way to wring the maximum performance from your ultrasonic range finder without changing the set-up.

Improves the following performance characteristics:

  • The over-all range of the unit
  • The directional properties of the unit (senses in the direction pointed)
  • The sensitivity of the unit
    • Smaller targets can be detected
    • Better luck detecting  acoustically "soft" targets like cloth, stuffed animals, fur etc.

How to use:

  • Simply slip the unit over the case of the transducer for instant improvements over no cone at all
  • For a more permanent assembly a piece of tape to increase the friction fit or a dab of glue
  • Use one on the receiving transducer for modest gain
  • Use one on the transmitter and one on the receiver for maximum gain
  • Mix and match with other shaped cones to tailor the gain and directional properties to match your application

*Warning!  The range can be increased to the point that detection of "old" ping signals results in erratic readings if range to target and speed of sound is not taken into account.

This mounting bracket can be used to assembly and align the EMG 30 DC gearmotor. (also motors in diameter range from 25 – 33 mm)

The M4 threaded holes for set screws must itself be tapped. The set screws are M4 X 10 (2 X dog point, 1 X cone point)).

The mounting plates can be connected  with use of three M4 threaded rods.

The mounting plates are  designed for use during prototyping phase and not yet tested with external loads.

The center line of the DC motor mounted in a frame that consists of at least two mounting brackets and three threaded rods by means of two three set screws in any direction to make.

These are the herringbone pattern gears used in the Printrbot's extruder, designed by Brook Drumm (gears from Wade's Most Excellent Extruder). The gears that came in my Printrbot Plus kit were warped and misshapen. Laser-sintered nylon is a very precise way to make objects, why not my extruder gears? These are from the original STL files from the Printrbot.

See the picture with the black and the white gears:
The Black gear came with my Printrbot Plus kit. The STL file shows a diameter of 63.78 mm. The gear that was printed by a Printrbot in my kit measures 61.25 (averaged 8 measurements) The white gear was printed by Shapeways in Laser-sintered nylon and averages 63.25 mm

If you want a little Headhunter - Gothic - Cannibal - Biker vibe on your 3D Printer, check out the Skulltruder!

This is the second hardness sensor i made.
The two reasons that pushed me to do an HS2 is that the first one was too expensive, even if better, and it was too big. As the first version, this sensor has the capability of an internal wire connection, but, useless to say, you have to choose IR transmitter and receiver small enough.
You could use SFH 3100 F as photodiode and GL4800E0000F as emitter phototransistor.
The material should be plastic, as flexible as it could be. WSF could be ok, i'll now when it will arrive.

A pneumatic gripping device I designed for use in an assembly line. It uses a central "piston" to move the hinged jaws open or closed.
This model is designed for display only, it's not meant to actually be functional (ie. the jaws won't move).

The components aren't hollow so this is quite expensive to produce. I'll work on a more economical version.
