If M.C. Escher had owned fidget toys, he would have worn "One ring to rule the ball" as a pendant. A single, continuous line contains a small ball that makes orbit after mesmerizing orbit but cannot escape, always held down in four directions. Available in solid, durable stainless steel with optional antique bronze and gold plated finishes to fit any context, "One ring to rule the ball" now also includes a free rubber necklace so that you can confuse your mind any time the fancy strikes you! One customer echoes many others in saying, "I couldn't put it down. This thing is just too fun!"

Purchases by those gracious customers have now paid for the design time on this piece so it is available on a pay-what-you-want basis. Ordering from this page contributes 5$ towards continuing work such as the new, even more impossible "One ring to pwn the ball" (just released October 18th!) which can be found at http://www.shapeways.com/model/145172/one_ring_to_pwn_the_ball.html and the open-source "Ultimate Desk Toy" at http://www.shapeways.com/model/109166/ultimate_desk_toy.html . Though these earrings may resemble an xenomorphic sea creature, we can neither confirm nor deny that they were modeled after any organism living, dead, or bearing any blood relation to our board of directors.

These earrings are sized for 18 gauge piercings and should fit most people with pierced ears. If you need a different size, just ask! I have a few larger gauges already available in the shop, and can resize it to a custom gauge if it's not already there.

Disclaimer on the images: any photos labeled "polished" are stainless steel that has been hand polished with a dremel. The stainless that you order will have more of a texture to it. I haven't yet made these for myself in bronze glossy, gold plated glossy, or either types of silver, but if you want the highly polished look your best bet is going to be silver glossy.

The Scrappies - A series of originally designed small sculptures in scrap metal-look.

The body parts of the Scrappies are inspired by everything that can be found in a scrapyard: Old bolts and nuts, rusty coils, pipes, parts of ball bearings, tin cans, and more.

The figurines are worked out in minute detail, including "rust holes" and traces of an alleged "welding". The scrap metal look gives the characters their own special, irresistible charm.

Height (with stand): 18 cm

The figurines are created in the 3DP process (three-dimensional printing) from steel and bronze, from an aluminium-polyamide composite or from a gypsum-based, full-colored composite.

Products from this series are available as small, medium and large sized figurines; in white, black, colored, in steel, bronze and gold.

The figurines, while still produced by Shapeways, are not available directly through Shapeways, but you can still get one! To locate the nearest store for you, to order one or to enquire about wholesale possibilities, please send an e-mail to info@trompe.nl.

This is part 1 of a snap-fit puzzle machine.  When you turn the knob, it generates fun!  This is the deluxe model, there's a smaller version here.

Here's all the parts:

I designed this for the SME Rapid 2011 trade show.  The STL files are available free for use (the show logos have been stripped).
